In “Bring Sean Home” I wrote on the heart-rending story of an American father’s, David Goldman, desperate fight to bring his son home, an 8-year old boy who is being held in Brazil in violation of all international norms, and human decency.
NBC has been right on top of the story, all along—kudos to you, NBC—and such media and public attention are finally having some results.
In the March 4, 2009, NBC Today Show, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tells NBC Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell that she is raising the Sean Goldman matter at the highest levels of the Brazilian government and also with several members of the U.S. Congress, and that she will keep pressing to reunite David Goldman with his son.
As a sad side note, Clinton mentions that there are 46 or 47 similar cases in Brazil alone.
Perhaps we are finally getting close to justice being rendered in this one case.
If it doesn’t get resolved soon, hopefully President Obama will use his power and influence when he talks to the Brazilian President who will be visiting Washington in about two weeks.
