Video: For the sports fans

I am a fan of Arsenal Football Club. They are a significant part of my life and have been so since I was 12 years old – I am now 29.

When Arsenal play, everything in my life stops. I postponed my wedding because Arsenal had a Derby on the same day. Unbeknownst to me, the day we changed it to was another big derby game and I made a compromise with my now wife that the wedding could go ahead if someone was listening to the radio paying attention to the score. We won – the day was saved.

Nothing annoys me more than when people tell me that football (soccer to Americans) is only a game – I know that, but I can’t help how I feel. I am a captive to Arsenal and they will never let me go.

I made a video explaining what it is like being a sports fan. Naturally it is about a film.

Greatly enjoyed the video CT, thanks! Football in the states is a different game of course (quite a brutal one by most standards) but the passion is the same for many of us. As a youth I was very much a book worm, but was also committed to wrestling and track (especially pole vaulting). I was never very enamored of football until I hit my fifties, now it’s about the only thing I’ll watch in the way of broadcast TV – with the exception of some PBS. I blame my Dad and one of my brothers for the football affliction 😉 but do feel sad when the season is over. Strange…
