One Most Likely Biting the Dust

On Friday, as part of a list of potential issues which looked as if they might complicate (if not stick a knife in) the Republican ticket following the selection of Sarah Palin, I wondered “if the following would turn into a story.” The “following” in that case was a set of pictures which began circulating of the Governor questioning whether or not she was actually pregnant this year. Well, it most certainly did turn into a story that raged all weekend across the blogosphere. However, while there was a lot of smoke and many questions raised, it’s looking unlikely that any fire will be found underneath.

palinpregnant.jpg

The photo doesn’t seem to be dated, but she certainly appears to be expecting. Even with the odd questions surrounding her plane flight, etc. it’s looking more and more as if this one is going to fall down the rabbit hole as a swing-and-a-miss by the bloggers. The campaign has a bit much on its hands at the moment to be answering every question and theory from Blogistan but I imagine they will be able to nail this one shut with little to no trouble should they choose to. Obviously, nothing as drastic as DNA tests or such will be required. No doubt the family should be able to proudly display some snapshots or video clips of the happy mother in the delivery room with the newborn son. (In 2008 who doesn’t have those?) Either way, it’s looking more and more like a case of chasing vapors.

Now all they need to do is get started on the list of the rest of the questions, issues, gaffes and other historical items, and they just might have themselves a viable candidate! (And just for the record, no… the clearing-up of the most tawdry, vacuous item to emerge in the first twelve hours really doesn’t change my disappointment in McCain’s selection of Palin nor encourage me about her viability as a VP and potential President on a moment’s notice. Nor does it sell me on the idea that she underwent a long, thorough vetting.)

UPDATE: (Can we ever have one of these without updates?)

Assuming the provided dates are correct, Bristol could NOT have been the mother of Trig because she is currently five months pregnant. This would mean that she couldn’t have given birth on May 10th of this year to Trig. That should pretty much wrap this up.

  • Kathryn
I admit I focused on this issue too much and made some ill-advised comments on it. I will be happy to see it die a deserved death, except for one last thing. All of this could have been spared, had the McCain campaign done it's job.
Clearly these rumors were out there, had they been looked into they could have had the happy delivery room pictures ready and the Doctor available to answer questions and turned this story back on those who were pushing it. Instead, the odd looking pictures get immediately removed from the Governor's web-site rising even more questions. I still question Palin's judgement for flying 8 hours after her water broke, but I question McCain's judgement even more, if you are going to sell the story, you need to check the story out and be ready to defend it.
One last point, I was told by another Moderate Voice reader that Todd Palin has quit his job to focus on the kids while Governor Palin campaigns. Kudos to him and to Governor Palin for making choices that put their kids first. I will not bring up any "Mommy War" comments up regarding the Palins. I wish there were more male conservatives willing to make the same choices. However, there are a whole bunch of other reasons why I won't vote the Republican ticket.

The left wing blogs maintain their reputation for class.

    (Heh)
  • GeorgeSorwell
This acknowledgment is, in fact, classy.
  • BBQ
The least you could have done Jazz was apologize for the smear mongering.

I used to really respect TMV even if it tends to lean left. I thought it as a place above shallow and unsubstantiated rumors. There are still authors I respect and even disagree with but the fact that there has been no apology shows poorly on TMV, Joe and especially Jazz. I expected better and yes this whole thing is akin to the Obama is a Muslim smears.
  • mw
I'm glad to see Jazz and the Moderate Voice retract this baseless fact free rumor.

An apology is also in order, but that is between Jazz and his conscience.

A lot of damage has been done by associating the reputation of The Moderate Voice with this garbage. As Jazz mentioned before - many sites linked to his rumor mongering post - They picked his post rather than the many others flinging this crap specifically because The Moderate Voice banner on the top of the page lent credibility to the non-story.

This will, of course, not end it. I expect we'll soon see the left-wing equivalent of the 9/11 Truthers in this thread foaming at the mouth and invoking pregnancy pillows or photoshop, questioning dates, and selling bigfoot corpses.

You reap what you sow, Jazz.
  • GeorgeSorwell
    Give me a break!

This is not akin to the Muslim smears, because it will, for the most part, stop.

Meanwhile, there's a best-selling book promoting the Muslim smears!!!

Here's another retraction they might want to consider.

The deal with the sister's ex-husband and firing his boss for not firing him.

I personally have lived this bad-cop scenario. I caught an attempted arson on my property on video tape with the suspect point-blank front and side profile shots. The suspect's father was friends with the DA, so guess what? They didn't even question the suspect and brought a case against me for "harassing" the suspect; which they later dropped on the eve of when it was scheduled to go to a jury.

Imagine this scenario, which is quite common I might add. Imagine that the ex-husband was stalking his wife or some such nefarious behavior that disgruntled ex's are statistically quite capable of. Imagine that Palin's sister tried to get the authorities to help her to gales of guffaws....like they're going to punish one of their own....not...

And so, Governor Palin contacted the boss and instructed him to take punitive action against his officer. The boss refused. The boss was then fired.

If this was the scenario, as it likely could have been, then Palin's actions are wholly correct and completely excuseable.

    As always, devil's advocate..
  • DavidD
And now it turns out that Bristol Palin really is pregnant, as reported by NBC and Reuters after an Alaskan blog posted pictures taken by John McCain's daughter yesterday (all available through Google).

I'd say no one could make this whole thing up, but after reading blogs regularly the last few years, maybe there now will be a post linking to a blog two years ago that predicted the entire scenario. The world has changed.

For all the outrage, there was something weird going on here. For all the talk of privacy, the fact that Sarah Palin believes in abstinence-only education makes this a campaign issue. I don't want to write about it more than this, but I bet someone will.
  • BBQ
I think that is it is fair that her stand on abstinence only education come into consideration. However as David has just stated people now will believe that the rumor was true and Palin couldn't fake it twice. This isn't going away and TMV helped the fire spread.
  • George,
It's amazing how rightwingers are able to act so offended at the slightest challenge to their stars integrity.

Obama has been called accused of being a secret muslim, a friend of terrorists, a unapologetic racist, a sexist, and Paris Hilton/Britney Spears. I'm sure jwest was right here calling out rightwingers for their classless accusations.
  • Well, BBQ, in one way this is going to be a disappointing day for you, but in another, a very lucky one. On the disappointing front, if you're waiting for some sort of sack cloth and ashes "apology" for the original post, you can spare yourself turning blue from holding your breath, as it won't be coming. Had I been one of the ones who actually accused Palin of this, then there would certainly have been a full apology and retraction. As it is, I provided information I received which had enough troubling questions and weird facts associated with it that it deserved some scrutiny. And as promised, when more information turned up, here it is showing up under my byline with a brand new capitalized post at the top of the page.

However, there *were* enough questions to warrant more of a look, some of which Kathryn already addressed. The scrubbing of the state web sites, the 8 hour plane ride to a hospital with no premie ICU hospital, etc. and that was all I brought up in the first post. The sad fact is that some stories, no matter how tawdry either come true or at least merit a larger investigation. I assume that during the months and months when the blogger were all over John Edwards about his love child, etc. when there was absolutely zero verifiable proof until he confessed, that you were similarly incensed and if we go check all of those postings since last Christmas we will find BBQ's name promptly and repeatedly displayed as defending Edwards' honor and honestly up and down the line? Sometime even lurid stories turn out to be true, and you don't know until someone looks into it.

On to the good news. Our format helpfully provides the name of each author in the byline right under the title of each column, so you can, in the future, skip each and every one of mine and spare yourself the horror! Yay! Wheeeeeeeee!
  • DavidD
Oh, sil, there is an official investigation underway of Governor Palin's actions to punish this trooper. That's because the facts are not as you imagine them to be. The trooper was already punished, and the governor wanted him punished a lot more. Exactly who was wrong and how much remains to be determined.

I realize lots of people have trouble waiting to get facts before guessing at what they must be. It's human nature. I wish I could be a different species sometimes, but I'm stuck being human, too.
  • Silhouette
Yeah, I've lived what cops do to "punish" their own. Two weeks off paid vacation and a big welcome-back party after-hours when they return.

You don't know corrupt cops like I do...
  • GeorgeSorwell
    Chris--

How right you are! My irony meter melted months ago.
  • KenM
The question isn't whether or not the "corrupt" trooper was bad or good or deserved to be fired. The question is, if Palin wasn't involed in the matter of pressuring the Public Safety Commisioner to fire the "bad" trooper, why did she fire him in the first place. I guess that will be answered on October 29th., when the investigation concludes.
  • Actually, we already covered what the *real* question is about the trooper investigation and it has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the guy was a corrupt, awful cop.

    http://themoderatevoice.com/politics/sarah-pali...

And for the record, it certainly sounds like he was a scumbag.

As far as the infant being the daughters baby, that story is now quashed. Seems the VP is going to be a grandmother.

    Jazz,
I am more of a lurker than poster and I usually enjoy your posts. I was just really saddened by you posting this vicious rumor.

As for Edwards, I didn't post about it but I thought the whole thing was silly and yes even wrong. I think when the whole thing broke when I had taken a break from reading about politics though.

And as far as being seen as hypocritical. I have told any person that ever mentioned the Obama smears that they are totally wrong and unsubstantiated.
  • jwest
“I'm sure jwest was right here calling out rightwingers for their classless accusations.”

I’ve been right there calling out anyone making false accusations or even true accusations in a classless way.

The difference here is that the left wing isn’t calling the candidate names, but calling her daughter a whore. I sure am glad they don’t engage in the politics of personal destruction.

As far as characterizations of Barak, he’s running for office. Time to put your big boy pants on and suck it up.

Barak was registered at a secular school in Indonesia as a Muslim. This makes sense due to his father’s religion, but no one on the right is claiming he’s a Muslim. If you look back at all the rumors, you’ll find they originated on Hillary’s side of the street.

Barak is friends with an unrepentant terrorist. No need to argue, it’s just plain fact.

Barak attended, promoted and used Rev. Wright’s church for 20 years. If a republican attended Klan meetings for 20 years then suddenly denounced them when it became a campaign issue, would you believe it?

Sexist charges must be from Hillary too, because I haven’t seen them from the right.

    Paris and Brittany were humor.
  • "On the disappointing front, if you're waiting for some sort of sack cloth and ashes "apology" for the original post, you can spare yourself turning blue from holding your breath, as it won't be coming. Jazz, I think in this case you attacked a woman's character by proposing (or repeating) an fantastic smear claiming that she might be lying about her own son without any solid proof. To me, the difference between the "is Obama a Muslim" and "is Palin lying about her child" smears is one of degree, and both are highly personal attacks that make the process of actually electing qualified candidates much uglier - and note that I'm saying this as an ardent Obama supporter. As to neither apologizing nor retracting the story, this was your comment 72 hours ago:

"Rest assured, if this turns out to be false I will print a large, bold faced apology. But there's a lot of smoke here, and we're looking for the fire. Too many hints to ignore at this stage."

You've attacked a woman's credibility in a very serious and personal way, and I don't think it's unreasonable to simply make an apology to her for propagating rumors (based solely on innuendo) that unfairly disparaged her integrity.
  • The difference here is that the left wing isn’t calling the candidate names, but calling her daughter a whore.

There you go, being an a**hole again.

Andrew Sullivan and others were questioning the honesty of Gov. Palin in light of the child being used as a campaign prop.
  • "Barak is friends with an unrepentant terrorist. No need to argue, it’s just plain fact... Barak attended, promoted and used Rev. Wright’s church for 20 years. jwest - this is despicable. Reverend Wright's church is on par with the KKK? Having a single acquaintance who has a shady past is grounds for character assassination? I know people who have been to jail - does that make me a thief? Just as the Palin smears are a stain on whoever spreads them, the attempts to paint Obama, a man who has spent his life in service to his community and his country, as an immoral danger are truly contemptible.
  • AustinRoth
I still say Michelle Obama is a Chicago crack whore. How do I know? The same way jazz found out about Bristol being Trig's mom - someone sent me an email.

At least now I know if I do turn out to be wrong, I have nothing I need to apologize for, because this has to be looked into.

Until someone can prove she isn't a crack whore, though, we have to assume she might be.
  • jwest
Not being a product of the inner-city, I’m unfamiliar with this “crack” stuff.

Does it make you want to sing, dance and shout “God damn America” every Sunday?

Does it cloud your judgment in any way, like having a terrorist for a friend?

You sure miss a lot when you’re stuck in the heartland.
  • StockBoySF
Hey there, Jazz.... So we meet again on this topic, and I hope it's for the last time because I'd like to wrap this up...

I feel the need to comment because I was right there with you in calling for a closer examination into these allegations. To the extent that anyone felt that I was spreading false rumors I apologize. But I do not apologize for demanding answers. We only have two months to figure out the VP candidate and so time is essential in delving into her past and (as I mentioned in one of my comments on your original posts) so that her name can be cleared of this allegation and we can focus on more important aspects of her.

I just looked at my first comment on your first post, because I wanted to quote it here... Though it turns out that I got it backwards originally :) The word "less" should have been "more", though if you read further it is obvious of my intent. Here's the comment from the original post:

"I'm less [should be more] concerned about Palin's lack of qualifications than her claiming her granddaughter as her own.... Though having said that I still consider this to be a serious charge, especially given the Republicans' rantings on personal responsibility...."

Sorry about the typo... but now that the allegation has been put to rest (I'm going to assume that all the dates match up and consider) I'm happy. We can now talk about some of those other more important things.

As far as the "condensed examination" of Palin.... the Republicans spent the better part of two decades unfairly trashing Hillary... Two months doesn't give America much time to look at Palin, so any future allegations I will wholeheartedly call for an investigation on. In fact, didn't the Republicans go on for two months on Hillary's clothes????
  • StockBoySF
OK, now on to my second comment on this topic.... am I the only one who finds it odd, or out of sync, that the reason Palin made the announcement about her daughter being pregnant was to quell the rumors? I didn't know that a potential VP becoming a grandmother was a private matter (as the article claims).... I would think that the citizens of the US have a right to know about the potential VP's family.

From the linked article: "Senior McCain adviser Steve Schmidt said the campaign decided to issue a statement about Bristol Palin's pregnancy to help quell those Internet-based rumors, which he called "disturbing, nasty smears."'

    Link to the full article....

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/ar...

At any rate, this is more of an observation than an attack on Palin....

But I guess Palin's family doesn't practice what they preach (abstinence only birth control), just like Quayle's daughter (I think it was) got an abortion a few years ago despite Quayle being against abortion.... This hypocrisy is amazing.... Now that is a small attack.... :)

And what about parental oversight? I guess that won't be an issue if Palin becomes VP and she and her family have Secret Service protection....

But I do applaud the family's decision to keep the child and her daughter and boyfriend take responsibility for their actions.
  • StockBoySF
AR, "I still say Michelle Obama is a Chicago crack whore. How do I know? The same way jazz found out about Bristol being Trig's mom - someone sent me an email."

For Christ's sakes you're being ridiculous. First of all there is nothing to suggest that Michelle Obama is a crack whore- not even circumstantial evidence. Certainly her lifestyle (able to manage a full time job and young family) is not that of a crack whore. Second of all she's been in the media spotlight for years. Furthermore she is not running for office...

The circumstances and Palin's own actions (and the actions of the government) surrounding Palin's last child were enough to raise questions.... (I'd still like to know why the pics from the official Alaska website were taken down). Palin has only been in the national spotlight for three days. Lastly Palin IS running for office.

By the way, Cindy McCain IS a drug addict and the left is not pushing that.... Thankfully Cindy McCain had the strength to kick the habit and thankfully she continues to lead a clean life. As much as we may not like Cindy on other issues I hope we all understand that her overcoming an addiction is an achievement.

So AR, the rest of us who wanted Palin's actions looked into have a perfect right to know and I hope we can all let this go now. Too bad those on the right continue to smear Obama and his wife with completely baseless allegations that have been researched for the last year or two.
  • pacatrue
I'm shocked, shocked I say!, that the governor of a state did not in fact fake a pregnancy, falsify medical and birth records, and persuade medical staff to clam up or actively lie about it without a single leak. After all, there were a couple dubious pics and a story about a flight choice, which made that scenario extremely likely.

    Snark off.

Anyway, Jazz, I'm glad you prominently retracted the story; however, on a blog as prominent as TMV, I still believe it would have been better to find evidence of the rumor instead of spreading it first and retracting later.
  • CStanley
Anyway, Jazz, I'm glad you prominently retracted the story; however, on a blog as prominent as TMV, I still believe it would have been better to find evidence of the rumor instead of spreading it first and retracting later.

    Ya think?

And what's with the 'all she had to do was show some photos' stuff? Does anyone actually believe that every baseless rumor should require candidates to dig up proof to quash the rumor? Besides the fact that as a guy, Jazz obviously has no clue that most women wouldn't exactly be thrilled at posting photos of themselves in the maternity ward. Yes, most families have such pictures, but most have them for family memories, not for the general public.
  • ORockwell
I can't beleive how gullible and sanctimonious some of you are here.

Sure, there may be nothing to this story. All anyone sane is doing is just asking questions about it.

    But,

Don't any of you think it's odd that the official rebuttal to the rumor that the teenage daughter is pregnant, is that NOW she's pregnant?

A bit convenient, a bit coincidental, don't you think? What are the odds of this actually happening?

This new revelation raises even MORE questions. And as someone else pointed out, the best rebuttal would be the release of official documents, pictures of an obviously pregnant Palin, doctor's statements, etc.

Where are they? Instead, we get the claim that the daughter is pregnant right NOW!

My bet? The daughter will suddenly "lose" the baby in a few months. But if that happened, I'm sure most of you would swallow that lie as well.
  • ORockwell

First of all, Palin is a public-- not a private-- figure. The rules are different for her. And one would think that the self-avowed Super Mom would be more forthright about her own pregnancy, rather than wait until she was 7 months along before announcing it.

Second, it's not a baseless rumor. It's not a "rumor" at all, just a bunch of questions. There is a much circumstantial evidence that something is awry. And if you want to talk about what "women" think, ask any about the claim that Palin flew for 8 hours after her water broke.

    NO ONE believes that story.

Where's all the pictures? Where's the hospital affadavits? Instead, we get the story that the daughter wasn't pregnant back then, just right NOW!!

    Gimme a break.
  • GeorgeSorwell
    Austin Roth--

It comes as very little surprise to see the types of email lists you're on.
  • ORockwell
    And p.s.:
"To the extent that anyone felt that I was spreading false rumors I apologize. But I do not apologize for demanding answers"

Exactly what answers did anyone receive today?

Palin didn't need to drag her daughter into this in order to rebut the "rumors." All she needed to do was just release doctor's statements, pictures, even the delivery video, whatever. That would have settled the issue.

Instead, she reveals her 17 year old daughter's pregnancy-- for what reason? To show that she couldn't have delivered in May? That wasn't necessary to answer the critics.

In other words, she needlessly dragged her daughter into this. There were other way to prove that SHE WAS THE ONE who had the baby !!

Doesn't anyone get this? Bill W., where are you?
  • ORockwell
    And finally:

    "
Imagine this scenario, which is quite common I might add. Sorry, there were no accusations of stalking. So there goes your hypothetical.

Also-- anything culpable on the brother-in-laws' part would be easily terminable. They investigated---- no evidence. So Palin retaliated against the boss.

Why are people here so trying to defend these Republican wingnuts-- and now-- family values hypocrites?
  • aloos
Sorry, maybe I missed something, but how does this one photo with no date or source discount the entire story? As for the daughter is pregnant now...she could be pregnant again - My brother, and sister and I are exactly 10 months apart EACH - seriously - sounds sick, but true - my mom had 3 kids in 20 months, and no multiple births! That's what no abstinence or birth control can get you! I still wonder why as governor, Ms. Palin didn't tell anyone of her pregnancy until her 7 month - why she traveled on a plane during a high risk pregnancy in her last trimester, how, on her FIFTH pregnancy, she can go into labor, give a speech, get on a plane, travel past several good hospitals to go to a physician no one can locate anymore to give birth. Everyone knows each delivery gets faster...If you look at the picture of when Ms. Palin was pregnant with the first child, it's not like she carries her children so as you can't notice! And why was the daughter absent from school, or switch schools or whatever - was unaccounted for during the second half of the Trig pregnancy. I don't want to smear the name of a young girl...frankly, I am sure that the 17 year old is very nice. What I do care about is lies and cover ups and winning in politics at all costs. As a mom, I know the sleep deprivation and hormones made the two years following the birth of my children a blur. Sure - I went back to work after 6 weeks on both, but Ms. Palin, Super Veep returned after 3 days! !!! I am sure she is a far, far tougher woman than I am, and I am sure people will scream about this question, but isn't anyone concerned about postpartum depression with someone who has access to start a war!! Chaney was crazy enough - but that might be nothing compared to a gone toting, postpartum mother of 4 OR 5!!! Keep up the good work and investigate all the stories - don't let ONE picture be proof.
  • cleavetoo
I think aloos is right. It's not disrespectful to ask the questions. Obviously, Palin was not vetted. I think she was selected on Thursday night or Friday morning when McCain woke up ticked off at Rove's people for telling him how to run his campaign again and again. I watched an interview of Palin with Maria Bartiromo from CNBC. She seemed genuine. She seemed inexperienced but still genuine. She makes a strong case for drilling in Alaska. The funny thing is that people make the joke that there are more caribou in Alaska than there are people. In the story, that was the case. They showed more caribou than people. I hope that in rushing to pick this person they have not forced her to compromise her integrity in an effort to protect her family. I do hope that she can survive this initial media onslaught so that she actually gets to campaign on the issues. Whether you like the McCain/Palin ticket or not (and I do not) there is a lot of good that can come out of strong women campaigning for the office of the Presidency/VP in this country, whether she wins or not. Just as lots of good will come out of Obama's campaign, particularly for children of color across the U.S.
  • ORockwell
Here's the bottom line as I see it:

It was disgraceful for Palin to drag her daughter into this, as a kind of 'inverse evidence' that she had her own child-- because the daughter couldn't have, because NOW the daughter is pregnant.

I mean, there were better ways for Palin herself to establish her own maternity. So why didn't she-- why did she drag the poor kid into the public eye right now? It wasn't necessary.

The whole thing looks fishier and fishier.
  • salsa
I think this is an important issue. When someone is deceiving and a liar AND a VP potential - people should know!

Trig was born April 18, 2008 - not May 10.

Sarah showed no signs of being pregnant until after she announced that she was seven months pregnant. And she was instantly slim, and back at work one day after delivering a DS, premie baby?

Bristol had "mono" during this period. How convenient.

Bristol is not pregnant now. She just had a baby a couple of months ago (Trig), so she is breast feeding and still has the baby-fat from just giving birth. This "pregnant now" is just so we won't question her physical appearance - and it squashes the previous claims that she is Trig's mother (time-line wise).

Rest assured that an unfortunate miscarriage will happen. Because she is not pregnant. AND, I predict that Sarah will then step down because "the pressure and media slander has resulted in a loss of a child... I must now step down from the nomination and focus on my family...."

Plus - the whole: water-broke, gave speech anyway - flew 12 hours to Alaska - no one on the plane knew she was pregnant- story is insane.

    People Please!
  • salsa
    ...
  • ORockwell
Well, I won't go so far as to say that it's true that 'Trig' is Palin's child, just that the whole thing doesn't add up-- someone's not being forthright. And there's nothing wrong with asking questions.

But, if the daughter does "lose" the child, what are people going to say? Leave her alone? I think a "miscarriage" would be the smoking gun that this is all a lie.

If it is, a miscarriage is the ONLY way they are ever going to get out of it-- what is it that Shakespeare (?) said about "oh what a web we weave..."

We shall see. But there's nothing wrong with being sceptical.
  • Westmiller
Only one minor problem with this "retraction" - it's false.
With the tiniest bit of research, one can determine from the source code that this picture of Sarah was taken *three weeks ago*, not in April. The poster includes a photo of Palin with her new Press Secretary, appointed in early August. In other words, the picture "proves" that Sara Palin was pregnant *last month* !!
The report that Bristol is *now* five-months pregnant did not come from anyone in the Palin family, it was from an anonymous McCain PR guy who learned to count backwards ... hoping to eliminate any possibility that Bristol was pregnant in April.
The entire question can be dismissed with *one* little piece of paper, but neither the Palin family, nor the McCain camp, are willing or able to produce the birth certificate for Trig Palin. It certainly exists, but it doesn't appear on any Alaska on-line birth certificate records.
You may have to retract your retraction, when the evidence is clear.
  • rob63
This may be a stretch, but this is what I think. Anyone can wear an "empathy belly" and appear pregnant. The fact that she didn't show at 7 months with her 5th child is pretty hard to believe. With each subsequent birth, the belly has a "memory" and you usually show even more than you did in previous births.

Her daughter probably had the baby and still looks pregnant (anyone who's had a baby knows you don't get back to normal after 5 months, especially after having had a few kids). She'll probably have a surprise "miscarriage". There is no proof that Bristol is 5 months pregnant.

    My thoughts anyway...

Just want to know... what constitutes statutory rape in Alaska. Is someone younger than 18 [or] 17, regardless of 'consent' considered as having been violated? Is this acceptable behavior for an 'abstinence only' advocate. One, I might add, would as VP attempt to inflict this upon the rest of us. Reminds me of the Catholic 'Rhythm Method'.

Sarah Palin is a great choice by McCain, in any case all you left wingers and socialsts will and have been tearing her apart over absolutely NOTHING - Yes OMG she is a Republican woman, a smart woman - if she was a dem, this ridculous look into her PERSONAL life woudn't even be an issue - as it shouldn't be now - I think our attention should swing over to Michelle Obama and her true intentions, the media quicky turned her into "Jackie O" She is no Jackie...I don't nderstand how anyone could even consider voting for Obama, he wants to raise taxes, and socialize EVERYTHING - America will not be free, give it a few years and we will all be speaking Chinese
