After more than a month in hospital battling bronchitis, former US president George H.W. Bush has taken a turn for the worse and is in intensive care with a “stubborn fever,” a spokesman said. “He’s had a series of setbacks now that have landed him in guarded condition in the intensive care unit,”…

  1. Hope with prayer that President Bush recovers and he gets to hold that new great grand-baby.

  2. I hope he makes a full recovery but I have been fearing this for a couple weeks now.

It is not uncommon for the elderly to will themselves to survive through the holidays only to fade fast afterwards.

I hope I am wrong but I fear I am not

  3. “Full Recovery”, in my opinion, is being allowed to pass with both respect and dignity.

We all should be allowed to expect this respect… and dignity.

Steve, I have not often agreed with your views on matters politic, but I completely agree with your (well-stated) sentiment here.

I also concur with this. The first vote I ever cast for president was for George HW Bush, and I still have great respect for the man.

  7. What Ohio said. The elder Bush was the last good GOP president, and I firmly believe his pragmatic policies set the ground for much of the good times that happened during Clinton’s administration while dealing with a war and a recession. He sacrificed his own presidency in order to tackle our debt and financial issues. A great man, and very under appreciated I feel.

  8. This is from a recent Huffington Post… May it be so…

An aide to former President George H.W. Bush, who remains in intensive care after being hospitalized for a cough stemming from bronchitis, requested Thursday that Bush friends and family “please put the harps back in the closet.”
