Continuing his governing by social media on a private network he owns, President Donald Trump said “SNAP BENEFITS…will be given only when the Radical Left Democrats open up government.” Last week, he told a judge he was waiting on their direction.
Two federal judges ruled that the Administration “must pay for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Snap) benefits, also known as food stamps, using emergency funds.”
In response, Trump posted this on Truth Social:
Trump blames “government lawyers” and Democrats for the fact that he’s refusing to release emergency funding that’s available for SNAP.
“If we are given the appropriate legal direction by the Court, it will BE MY HONOR to provide the funding…”

Conversely, Karoline Levitt, press secretary, says “it’s gonna take some time” to release the funds and then lies about the Democrats being responsible for SNAP benefit withholding.
In a court filing, the 25 states that sued the Administration last week contend “the Trump administration is breaking a court order by agreeing to fund only a partial amount of SNAP benefits during the government shutdown.”
“If [Trump] continues to ignore the courts, then we’re in a full blown and five alarm constitutional crisis. So the president doesn’t get to pick and choose which court orders he complies with. If the court has said he has to start paying SNAP benefits, then he has to start paying SNAP benefits.”
