The fog of war is real, and as Colin Powell is reported to have told his aide, by that aide, “The first reports are always wrong.”
But this has not stopped the weasels of the Red Blogs from attempting to latch onto one paragraph of one British newspaper’s report that:
According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and “lockdown”, under which movement is severely restricted.
And, as usual, the Usual Suspects, colored all in red, are attempting to turn that lonesome paragraph into political scandal, irrespective of the fact that the United States of America remains under attack. The term for this is “quisling.” Here’s the top of Memeorandum, right now, with the “political” story pushed above the irrelevant news of the attack. It’s the political attack that matters to these swine:

Thus do the “patriots” defend their nation.
(As explained before, I’m using the WIRED Memeorandum colors javascript, which highlights blogs by red and blue, conservative linking and liberal linking, respectively.)
I merely want to point out that one paragraph and the subtitle of a headline (as written by a headline writer* and probably NOT the writer of the piece, to get you to click) is NOT a scandal. An anonymous source makes the statement to a British journalist. But that is the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW: to focus rage and hopefully paralysis on the Administration in the middle of a military attack, and, perhaps, a disinformation attack rousing people all over the Middle East to storm American embassies.
[* See “Mysteries of the Universe Revealed #412: Headlines,” 9 December 2009]
This is beneath our honor as American citizens, and no language of opprobrium is sufficient to the task of limning the barbarity of this intentional attack on America, as surely as the RPG-toting men in the pickup trucks were attacking America in Benghazi.
We are either in this together, or let’s just start shooting each other right now.
But the 101st Chairborne can’t be troubled to actually do this. Instead, a campaign of disinformation from the same people who brought you the DNC suppression, the “blog about Clint” day and the “SWATting” phony scandal of Memorial Day are at it again.
May God protect the United States of America and those things that we have always stood for, even against the political depredations of such as these.
Courage.
