“Ilhan Omar should be thrown the hell out of our country, and most of those people — they have destroyed Minnesota… It’s a hellhole right now. Those Somalians should be out of here. They have destroyed our country …go back to your own country… A lot of it starts with the governor. A lot starts with Barack Hussain Obama.” ~ DJT
Everyone needs to take two minutes and listen to President Donald J Trump’s racist, lie-filled rant about Somalia.
Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."

In my very long memory of public affairs, have never heard a public statement by a “president” (a) more alarming in mental health terms, and also (b) more overtly racist and hate-filled.
Historian of the 1960s-2000s says: Nixon was constrained by not controlling Congress or (fully) the Court. By the momentum in the other direction from Black civil rights activists and their allies, north and south. It’s taken this long to put, basically, Strom
Thurmond in the WH— Dr. Felicia Kornbluh (@vtfeminist.bsky.social) December 3, 2025 at 5:31 PM
Where to begin?
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) came to the United States in 1995 (Clinton was in office) when the US granted her and her family asylum. Five years later, at age 17, Omar became a citizen. In 2019, she was sworn into the US House of Representatives after serving in the Minnesota legislature. She’s been re-elected to Congress three times.
In the video, Trump said Omar “shouldn’t be allowed to be a congresswoman, and I’m sure people are looking at that. And she should be thrown the hell out of our country.” She is a US citizen. This is an unhinged statement.
Other refugees from Somalia’s civil war immigrated to Minneapolis-St. Paul in the 1990s. There are fewer than 100,000 living in Minnesota, and most are American citizens. More than half were born in the US.
Last month, Trump said he was terminating Temporary Protected Status for Somali migrants in Minnesota, a legal safeguard against deportation. A report produced for Congress in August put the number of Somalis covered by the program at just 705 nationwide (emphasis added).
Hellhole?
The median household income in Minnesota is $92,350, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. For the US as a whole, the median income was $88,000.
According to a Smile Hub survey, “Minnesota is ranked the second-best state in the nation for children.” Minnesota ranks third, behind Hawaii and California, for women’s equality, according to WalletHub.
More than 84% of the 2024 high school graduating class earned their diploma. Nationally, the class of 2022 had a 87% graduation rate.
The opening video follows a similar rant on Tuesday
Trump on Somalis: "We're gonna go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country. Ilhan Omar is garbage. She's garbage. Her friends are garbage."

Yes, we have “basically” elected Strom Thurmond as president, the “vocal segregationist” and pro-segregation presidential candidate in 1948.
