Oh, and by the way, it’s really impressive how you law enforcement guys at the NYPD and the FBI managed to identify and apprehend Faisal Shahzad, even though the attempted bombing in Times Square was an act of war and we know that law enforcement methods don’t work with things like this.
Actually, we didn’t get even that much acknowledgment of reality from our friends over on the right. Here’s a rundown:
- “Don’t give this guy his Miranda rights until we find out what it’s all about.” — John McCain on Imus in the Morning
- “Re: The Jihadist Attack in Times Square. … the Obami [sic] haven’t learned anything from the Christmas Day bombing attack.” — Jennifer Rubin, Commentary
- ” ‘Shahzad’s flight to Dubai had left the gate and was headed toward the runway when authorities discovered that he was on board and wanted.’ This story sure is a series of close calls.” — That wasn’t my reaction to those close calls. My reaction was, “Wow! Great police work, you guys at the NYPD and the FBI!, and thank you, thank you, thank you, to that alert and responsible t-shirt vendor in Times Square!” But then, I’m not Kathryn Jean Lopez at National Review Online.
- “MS-NBC anchor: I’m so bummed that Shahzad wasn’t a Tea Partier.” — Ed Morrissey, deliberately twisting a paraphrase of something Contessa Brewer said. (Brewer actually said, at some length, that part of her was hoping the person responsible for the attempted Times Square bombing would not be from an Islamic country or have Islamic connections because such connections are so often used to fuel anti-Islamic bigotry. Ed actually quotes her in full and provides the video of her saying this, and still perverts her meaning into something heinous.)
You don’t need any more examples, do you? Really, they’re all the same.
