Hello readers.
A while back, when we made the decision to scrap traditional comments, we started seeking other alternatives. We didn’t want to “clutter” the site with long comment streams. We wanted better management of “unsavory” comments and commenters. And we wanted much more interactivity. We are confident that we have found the solution. We call it:
- DISTRICT TMV!
District TMV is our forum (using the most excellent Simple:Press application) where all posts on the main site are added to the forum as well. Once posted (which happens immediately) readers will be able to comment just like a traditional site. But these comments will appear only in the forum. Now some of you might think this is disruptive to the flow of the site. Not true. The forum is integrated into the site with the same look and overall feel. Beneath every blog post, you will see a line saying: Join the District TMV discussion on this post. When you click that link, you will automatically be carried to the forum post ready for your comment by clicking “Reply to Post.” Easy as pie.
District TMV has a number of features, such as …
1. Sending a private message to other commenters and authors without sending an e-mail (in-house mail system)
2. Post ratings
3. Live counts of who’s online in the forum
4. Multiple forums with a different subject focus (support, etc.)
5. Avatars and signatures
6. Full personal profile management
And more. Because we are using a forum, your Disqus login IDs will not work. You will have to register before posting a comment. Registration is as easy as replying to a blog post, seeing and following the “Register” link. (TMV authors and editors are already registered.) You can also click “District TMV” at the top of the site to go directly to the forum and then click the “Register” link. We have also set up a temporary REGISTRATION ISSUES forum within District TMV for those of you having initial issues. The forum is STRICTLY MODERATED since it allows posting a new topic without registration. Any post or comment made there, outside of comments about registration issues, will be deleted promptly.
We know there will be some quirks to iron out, so please bear with us. In the meantime, we encourage you to explore the forums since there is much to explore. Stay tuned for more information about District TMV.
I’m not complex. Don’t have time for all that. And all that complex stuff bad for the stomach. Just color me simple and plain with a twist.
