Now a Texas State representative, Leo Berman, R-Tyler, has joined the “birthers’ movement” and other states by saying that his proposed bill to require presidential candidates to present their birth certificates to the Texas secretary of state is necessary “because we have a president whom the American people don’t know whether he was born in Kenya or some other place.”
In a regular column in the Austin American-Statesman, “PolitiFact Texas,” that “sorts out the truth in politics,” Berman is quoted by Politico as saying, “We don’t think the president was vetted, and it’s just that simple…I read different things that say he was born in Hawaii, and then I read the governor (of Hawaii) can’t find anything that says he was born in Hawaii.”
When the Statesman asked Berman about it, he replied:
I just listen to the news, I don’t write it down. It’s been on several news stations that he (Abercrombie) said he was going to resolve this once and for all and when he tried to … he couldn’t find anything.
The Statesman finds no proof that Hawaii’s governor said that he couldn’t find proof of Obama’s birthplace and rates Berman’s statement “False.”
It also describes other attempts by various individuals and organizations suggesting—prevaricating—that President Obama is not a natural-born U.S, citizen, and shoots them down.
Nevertheless, the doubters, the haters, the birthers will continue playing and singing the same tune. The only thing that may change is the twang.
Just hoping it will never get into the “Top 1,000”
