There’s a book that is now more relevant than ever and Shaun Mullen is republishing a thought-and-debate provoking review of it. Here is his intro:
Now that President Obama has sent General Stanley McChrystal packing, all eyes are on General David Petraeus, who will be expected to work the same magic in Afghanistan that he did as the architect of the Surge strategy in Iraq. Herewith a review of the seminal book on Petraeus and the Surge. It was originally published in March 2009.
Go to the link and read it the review in full of Thomas Rick’s. It’s about subject timelier than ever and it’s a lively read, chock full of good quotes from the book (I am tempted to order it after reading this review) Mullen also touches on some of the info in Ricks’ other book, Fiasco: The American Military Adventure in Iraq.
