Legendary singer Natalie Cole dies at age 65. She died New Year’s Eve at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, her family confirmed in a statement.
Cole, best known for “Unforgettable” and “This Will Be,” passed away due to complications from ongoing health issues.
“Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived … with dignity, strength and honor. Our beloved Mother and sister will be greatly missed and remain UNFORGETTABLE in our hearts forever,” read the statement from her son Robert Yancy and sisters Timolin and Casey Cole.
CBS News reports Cole died of congestive heart failure. She battled drug problems and hepatitis before getting a kidney transplant in May 2009.
