The third prime-time GOP presidential debate certainly was more entertaining than the snooze-fest known as the first Democrat presidential debate. In comparison, watching the Republicans was like watching an NBA game, while watching the Democrats was like watching a game of shuffleboard at a senile citizens home.
Here is how this writer scores the performance of each GOP candidate.
Bush: Let’s stop beating around the bush, and tell it like it is. Jeb isn’t very inspiring, and if he continues a lackluster performance, then he will be pruned away from the GOP presidential field.
Carson: The doctor is calm and gentle, but he didn’t offer much substance. He has to do more than tell people to take two aspirin and call him in the morning.
Christie: If the next POTUS is a Republican, and if that person isn’t Christie, then that person should appoint Christie as the next U.S. Attorney General.
Cruz: The Texas Senator may be unpopular with his GOP Senate colleagues, but he sure can debate well. He may very well cruise his way onto the 2016 GOP presidential ticket.
Fiorina: The former CEO of Hewlett-Packard smiled more, but she didn’t do as well as she did during previous debates.
Huckabee: The Southern Baptist preacher didn’t do much more than take up space and repeat what others on the stage had already said.
Kasich: Ohio’s sitting Governor was combative, but he didn’t present anything new that would make him stand out from the rest of the GOP field.
Rubio: The Florida Senator was like a football player on defense who repeatedly intercepted the ball and made touchdowns.
Paul: The Kentucky Senator was more wooden than Dutch shoes, which was fitting since he promised to clog up the effort to pass the current debt-ceiling bill.
Trump: The Donald was much more mellow than his usual self, leaving some pundits to speculate that his mood was due to a rocky-mountain high, but not necessarily the one that John Denver sang about.
The Debate’s Biggest Winner: The GOP.
The Debate’s Biggest Loser: The Democratic Party’s biggest super-pac, a.k.a. the Democrat-favoring members of the mainstream media.
The “Wanted” posters say the following about David: “Wanted: A refugee from planet Melmac masquerading as a human. Loves cats. If seen, contact the Alien Task Force.”
