Once again the leader of the Roman Catholic Church is making headlines because of his acts of mercy. Here is an excerpt from the Fox News story “Vatican will shelter 2 families fleeing war, hunger, as Pope calls on Europe to do the same“.
Francis said two of the Vatican’s parishes will welcome two refugee families, but did not give details. A Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Ciro Benedettini, quoted the pope’s chief alms-giver as saying the Vatican is now deciding which families will be hosted.
He has chosen mercy as the overarching theme of his papacy. Practicing what he preaches, he has already made free showers at the Vatican available to Rome’s homeless and has barbers available for haircuts for the needy, among other initiatives.
Although Pope Francis is the leader of only the Roman Catholic Church, members of the larger universal Church can learn from him. What he strives to do is to conform to the teaching of Micah 6:8: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Francis is often criticized by JV pundits feigning journalism. Yet, the Pontiff continues to outshine them by actually walking the Christian talk.
Sure, some pundits mislabel Francis a Communist (which he isn’t) because he believes that crony capitalism contributes to the problem of poverty.* Even if Francis is mistaken about that, he is still closer to being a sheep than a goat, unlike some of his critics.
(*Pope Francis is openly opposed to Communism, a fact that some of his critics are oblivious to.)

The “Wanted” posters say the following about David: “Wanted: A refugee from planet Melmac masquerading as a human. Loves cats. If seen, contact the Alien Task Force.”
