UPDATE 10:30 PM PST
We have 75% of the vote in and the race continues to tighten, now at 53-47%, with Republican Van Wanggaard leading Democrat John Lehman leading by about 2,900 votes.
If you compare this to the last report, at 47% the math shows Democrat Lehman won 51.4% of the vote counted.
Assuming he continued to do so with the remaining 25% of the vote (about 18000 votes) he’d gain another 500 votes or so.
In order for him to make up the full 3000 votes (giving him a 100 vote lead) he would need to win about 58% of the remaining votes.
Possible of course, but increasingly unlikely.
Unless they make another report soon this will be the last update.
NEW UPDATE
All but one state senate race called. In the 21st we have about half the vote in and the Republican Van Wanggaard leads 55-45 but that is down from the 63-37 lead they had when there was about 10% in.
This one could well go to a recount.
UPDATE
Now with about 50% of the vote in for the 13th, 23rd and 29th districts the GOP incumbents all retain 18-30 point leads
So for the Democrats to win any of these, they’d have to reverse the results completely in the remaining areas, which seems highly improbable. So I think it is safe to call those 3 races for the GOP
The one race in play is the contest in the 21st. We now have 10% of the vote in and the GOP leads 63-37 but of course 10% is not enough to consider these results significant
****************************************************************************************
MSNBC, CNN, Fox and AP are calling the race for Governor Walker.
The current returns show him leading 61-39% but there is a lot of flux left in the returns so I expect things to tighten up.
The race for Lt. Governor is officially still out but the numbers are similar.
So the key now is whether the Democrats will pick up the one seat needed to take the State Senate.
Of the four races, it looks like three races in the 13th, 23rd and 29th districts are heading strongly in the GOP direction, though only 20% of the results are in.
In the 21st district, where the outcome was expected to be the closest, no results yet on the AP site
