You’ll see some fine-tuning at TMV over the next 12 months.
(1) THE BLOGROLL: Starting Friday the blogroll will be looked at. Blogs on it that haven’t been updated in a while will be removed. If you’re a blogger and yours is one of those, if you start up again just contact us and we’ll put it back (we’ve done that with one already). We’ll also remove a few blogs that dropped us from their blogrolls because they didn’t like a given post, or some blogs that we added but when we emailed the owners to let them know and/or ask about being on their blogroll we got no response. This is a WORKING BLOGROLL that TMV uses extensively himself. He does check all of these sites out within a given month.
(2) Cobloggers. We’ll be adding a new one real soon. He’ll complement the other fine and always-independent writers we have here on TMV.
(3) Some other contemplated stages. Still in the thinking and discussion stage.
A new coblogger, that’s good news, your choices so far have been outstanding
Joe,
Please add a “shortcut icon”. This is the small graphic icon that shows up on the navigation bar, tabs, and bookmarks. I’m not a graphic artist, or I’d make one myself. Maybe you could have a contest.
html something like:
< link rel=”shortcut icon” href=”http://www.themoderatevoice.com/favicon.ico” >
I don’t know how to make one and I’m computer ignorant (some readers will say I’m politics ignorant, too). Until recently I thought an icon was Elvis.
aisle, can you explain further?
What other changes do folks suggest to drive more traffic to the site?
Would a format more like Huffington Post and Human Events be more compelling?
How about make the posts a brief summary linked to the full post so that we can see more of what’s going on on the home page?
How about moving the links to a separate page so they do not clutter up the home page?
How about more advertsing so Joe can make a living providing this unique service to the moderate community?
I second Paul’s idea of making the posts a summary. With more bloggers you would have a better overview of what posts might attract you interest.
Holly, the butterfly on this Microsoft page, is the shortcut icon associated with MSN. It, shows up on the address/navigation bar and in the bookmarks (as shown), it also shows up on the tabs during tabbed browsing, which is why it would be helpful to me. (I open a lot of tabs in Firefox, and being able to recognize the TMV tab by icon would help me navigate.)
A Google search of “shortcut icon” or “favorites icon” reveals more instruction on how to make one. It is a 16×16 pixel image in pnm format (the gimp and maybe other graphics packages allow saving in “microsoft windows icon .ico format”.)
Is this far enough?
