The Palestinians voted against corruption in Fatah and for the programs that Hamas had run, funded by Arab states who for some reason limited their aid to Palestinians to a group that promotes only the most extreme and violent attitude towards Israel. They paid absolutely no attention to the outside world’s accurate view of Hamas as a terrorist organization and gave no thought to the potential consequences of voting an extremist terrorist group into power.
I do have to say that so far Hamas has proven my belief correct that everyone who thought that somehow becoming part of a legitimate government would change them were doing an excellent Pollyana imitation.
