Yee Haw

The Cardinals took a 3-1 lead in this year’s World Series yesterday.

I can’t believe it. It is, of course, too early to celebrate (it ain’t over til the fat lady sings) but we’re extremely close.

  1. Are you a Cards fan???

Are you from this area (St. Louis)?

  2. lol no I am from the Netherlands :D and yes I am a Cardinals fan. NYY fan first and foremost, but the Cards are my 2nd favorite team (my NL team so to speak).

Eh, this is one of those midwest world series that we on the east coast don’t really care about…

    Go Bravos!

I couldn’t believe before the World Series how many people were predicting Detroit 4-0 or 4-1. After watching the Cards all season, I never thought it would turn into that. Sure, they struggled at the end of the season but they have such a good team they can step it up when needed. I was figuring Cards 4-1 or 4-2 all the way. That’s looking like a real possibility now.

Matt, now you east coasters know what it’s like for the rest of the country when we have to deal with all the hype of an east coast series, with everyone in the media acting like the whole world cares more about an east coast series than anything else.

  5. Hmmm; behind 3-1 games.

Reminds me of 1968 for some reason….

Then you’re not much of a baseball fan huh.

Ryan: I thought that it would be 4-0 or 4-1 for the Tigers. I’ve been way wrong. I’m now hoping that the Cardinals will make it a 4-1 win :D

  7. Bruce… lol. Well, it ain’t. It’s 2006.
    ;)

The game turned on an error by the pitcher. If he doesn’t throw that ball away, there’s one out and Eckstein on third. The next two batter struck out (with Pujols walked) and the inning is over with Tigers up by 1. Instead, Eckstein scoreds on the error, and with two outs Preston Wilson drives hom another run to take the lead. An error by the pitcher. The Tigers have broken the record for errors by the pitcher. Who would have thought that would do it?

  9. Holly in Cincinnati says:

I’m a Tigers fan. I went to bed after the Cards took the lead.

  10. All I know is that this series is starting to get draining on Tiger’s fans world series can be draining

This KC Royals (weep for me) fan remembers 1985, when the Cards also led 3-1.

Last night the Cards were evidently fated to win. Granderson falls down on Eckstein’s fly and then Rodney air mails an easy thrown to first. Ugly ugly ugly.

Have to hand it to David Eckstein, though. Seems he was involved every time they did something, and each time hitting a guy who had been looking pretty much unhittable.

The Cards are my third most disliked team, the Yankees and the Braves being the two teams I’d like to see lose every game they play. I don’t like the Mets much either.

Having said that David Eckstein was terrific last night. Just wish he played for a different team.

I never thought that Detroit would be so good this year, what a surprise. Since they are largely a team of unknowns I have to root for them, although their chances look pretty bleak this morning. Like Holly I turned off the tv last night when the Cards took the lead.

I’m a Cubs fan first and a midwest fan second, so having two midwest teams in the series is a treat, even if I don’t like the Cards.

Only 5 more months to spring training!!!
