An American Detainee

The harrowing story of Donald Vance, detained by America in Iraq for 97 days. His “crime”? Being caught in a raid of a company involved in weapons smuggling. The problem? He was the whistleblower who called for the raid in the first place!

This is depressing but makes me celebrate our free press. Eventually most injustices are addressed.

Sometimes our government facilitates justice and sometimes it is an obstacle. Whom we choose as leaders matters.

I hope this guy gets to testify before the Judiciary Committee.

    Wow, just wow.

He was the control. How do you know what the truth is not, if you don’t know what the truth is?

Paul in Austin- Its not “the government” its the President and his administration. I’m sure congress knew jack about Vance.

I read that late last night somewhere and was very upset. our whole conduct of this war has been nothing but incompetent and messed up. There are kids in Gitmo. They were picked up as enemies at the ages of 5,6 years old and up. and are still there. Nice huh? when the history is written of this war it will be the shame on our nation.
There are Americans being held without charges, Quakers being spied on and children in gitmo. That is just the tip of it all.

Celebrate indeed. In the sense that we should all fight tooth and nail to keep it free and to expand that freedom.

“Eventually most injustices are addressed. ”

One would like to think. I, however, think not. I suspect most injustices stay hidden.

Congress bears HUGE responsibility for the excesses of the Administration – it is their JOB to check it’s power and willful ignorance (and/or cowardice) is but a small step from culpable compliance.

Of course, the electorate is ultimately responsibile for both. It’s the electorate’s job to select their representatives and y’all voted that crowd in TWICE (or meekly knuckled under to their coup – either way…).

But….what if the Free Press is controled by Israel?

  7. I don’t know–the Zionists team up with the alien/Elvis love child and build a moon base?

I generally get bored and stop reading conspiracy theories well before that point.

But….what if the Free Press is controled by Israel?

    WTF?

  9. Davebo says:

Just one rather nefarious example of many. Remember those hardened killers and terrorists we kept in Gitmo?

More than half have been released already.

It will be decades before the rest of the world doesn’t laugh in our faces when we try to claim the moral high ground.
