But Hey, We Couldn’t Vote For America
The Dutch have voted: according to my fellow Dutchmen, we are the third “most loutish, bad-mannered nation” in Europe. The number one? Russia (vodka). The number two… drumroll… France (no further explanation necessary).
The best mannered nations in Europe according to the Dutch: Swiss, Scandinavians and the Belgians.
What can I say… we simply like TO PAAAAARTY!

Manners? I read on an American tourist’s website the following:
In America, when you go into a shop or a restaurant, the people that serve you don’t really give a shit about you, but they make you feel as if they do.
In Holland, they don’t give a shit about you either but they have absolutely no intention to hide the truth.
I found that rather striking and it’s quite true, actually. Customer-friendliness is unfortunately non-existant in Holland.
I completely agree. Sometimes one gets the feeling that one has to beg to buy something.
