Better Late Than Never

The Washington Post reports that the Democrats are no longer afraid to debate the GOP on national security issues. One of the ‘telling signs’ is that the far majority of Democrats voted against the “legislation governing the treatment of terrorism suspects”.

I must have missed something, nowhere in the WP article are the word “afraid” or “coward” used. The use of the word “afraid” seems like an attack on the Democrats. Why do you HATE those spineless Democrats(snarkI)? Must be an Iranian Javascript plot.(snarkII)

What about Gordon Smith speaking on the constitionality of the bill and then voting for an “unconstitional bill”.
    WP GS

Three foes of the habeas corpus provision — Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) and Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Ore.) — introduced yesterday an amendment to overturn the administration-backed provision by allowing foreign nationals in military or CIA custody to challenge the legality of their detentions after one year.

There’s no doubt in my mind Republicans will still be in charge after Nov elections. the only way they won’t be is if the Dems get the grass roots going and have a well coordinated get out the vote effort. If they don’t, they are TOAST. Better believe the GOP will be at the polls election day voting to keep their boys in and it don’t matter one wit how screwed they get by that vote. A vote for George Bush is a vote for Jesus. for them it’s that simple. They Dems might be able to outvote them but they ain’t gone get no converts.

True that. But there are a lot of Dems just itchin to pull them some lever. I know I am, its about the only thing that will make me feel better at this point. If its got an (R) next to it, I aint votin for it….ever again. To much water under that bridge. Of course if the Dems dont get it together, I am looking third party. But we’ll see what they do once they grab the brass ring.

I’m with you, Snarky! Unless the Repubs undergo a total transformation!

Perhaps the “far majority” voted for the terrorists’ rights, but if you notice, anybody in a tight reelection campaign most certainly did NOT. I guess they know the voters would CRUSH them if they showed up after voting to help terrorists suddenly gain Constitutional rights. And they know you lefties will still vote for them, so there’s no risk or downside. They want to keep those nice jobs, and that’s what’s most important to them. You lefties don’t matter to them, I guess, because they know you’ll vote for them even if they’re friggin’ CHARLES MANSON, if they have a little “D” after their name. Pitiful.

    MdS,
Your novels about the sisters Justine and Juliette were an interesting study on morality and God. However, it appears your years of debauchery and imprisonment have dimished your writing skills.

Yep, as long as they aren’t (R). At least Charlie Manson was honest about being a physco.

And he didnt have a nuke-aler football to play with.

What’s pitiful is watching the dead enders, the backwash, self immoliate in big flaming puddles of hate.

    Snark,
Charlie had his Mason Gang, blind followers. What do you call the NRO and FrontPage crowd who blindly follow their leader and justify torture?
    FPM The case for Waterboarding

Enemies of the Constitution of the domestic varity.

  10. Rudi says:

I like the title “The case for Waterboarding”. I wonder what Horowitz or Barnes would squeal when someone pored a little water on their faces. They’d probably piss their pants during the “frat hazing”.

    SnarkyShark–

Is it November yet? Because I totally can NOT wait to vote!

Because I totally can NOT wait to vote!

I would quit my job to do it if I had to. I wanna be able to brag to the grandkids “Hell yeah, I helped pull the plug on the Cheney circus.”

  13. Kim Ritter says:

Yep- I’d have to pull the D lever, even if Adolf himself was running, just to give this crew their walkin’ papers, LOL! Maybe I’ll vote a few times!

  14. The Marquis de Sade says:

Exactly, Kim, those politicos know that you lefties will vote for them no matter WHAT, so they ignore you. If you want change, YOU have to change.
