A Nice Ad

James Joyner published a post about a new RNC ad. Watch the ad yourself at Outside the Beltway. James compares this ad to the one from Johnsen attacking Goldwater: they share some remarkable similarities.

Total desperation. And the message completely backfires. Why should the American people trust the party that failed to kill the people who made those quotes?

  2. Davebo says:

It’s election time so now Dubya is once again, concerned about Osama.

I give it about 3 weeks till he goes back to being “not concerned” about him.

    Exactly…

The question everyone will ask is…where the hell does Iraq fit into that equation. The problem with the Republicans is, they think this all a fucking game. That ad is pretty disgraceful. Fear is all they have left I suppose.

    They’ve lost competence talking point

They’ve lost fiscally prudent talking point

They’ve lost the moral highground talking point

They’ve lost the anti-Washington talking point

They’ve lost the anti-corruption talking point

    They can’t talk about Iraq

    They can’t talk about Immigration

They can’t talk about Health Care

They can’t talk about Osama Bin Laden in the specific term.

All they have is generalized FEAR to play on..

    DIS-GRACE

    Remarkably subtle, eh wot?

Thats it? Vote Republican or die?

Iraq is done, and the Republican pary is done. The add is badly done satire that is made ironic by the fact that the RNC believes this will help.

Rove has indeed lost control of the messege.

  5. Kim Ritter says:

This ad capitalizes on the GOP’s only achievement in the last five years- the failure of the terrorists to attack again after 9/11. It is a dubious achievement at best. They seem to have refined fear-mongering to a fine art, too bad they can’t say the same for their ability to govern.

Kind of related, and nowhere else to post this:
