I love Halloween. It is official. We have to introduce Halloween in the Netherlands as well.
Yes, terrible, just terrible.
There are not words enough in the English language to express my disgust for this. Therefore I will just look at the picture and say nothing…
yes, well, as my daughter is now 17 and wearing these costumes, while it makes me slightly uncomfortable, she is old enough to make that decision. The problems is that if your daughter is 10 – 15, they look like those as well.
Sorry, not my type!
LOL, and Halloween is prudish compared to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. I’m sure you’d be completely stunned and at a loss for words there.
Blond, beautiful, sexy.
Strangely, women like that are always my type.
CS: what is Mardi Grass?
Seriously? I thought it was celebrated in some European countries? If you were seriously asking, it is the day before Ash Wednesday: a day for heathen, hedonistic celebration before the fast of lent. Literally it means “Fat Tuesday” (Mardi Gras)
Ow wait I remember. Someone told me about that. Something Catholic right? And… I never heard of it to be honest. Perhaps some European countries celebrate it like that, the Netherlands is Protestant though, so…
True, it is definitely Catholic which is why it took hold in Lousiana (and a few other cities in south LA and Mobile Alabama, but N.O. is definitely the heart of it). I just thought it would have been more well known in Europe but then again I don’t know if any European countries currently celebrate it. It’s also very big in Rio.
And, Christine, aren’t you Catholic?
The Carnival in Rio makes the NO look like prudes. Does the Spanish and Portegese have MG?
Rudi: I don’t know. I would assume they have. Spain, Portugal, Italy are all very Catholic.
Rudi yes, Spain celebrates Mardi Grass, which, like Brazil, it calls Carnavales. The basic rituals are similar, including lots of dressing up and parties. Over time Spains Carnaval has become more and more an imitation of Brazils, being that Brazils is by far the most spectacular. The biggest Carnavales in Spain happen in the Canary Islands, in no small part because they are closer to the ecuator and taking off most of your clothes in the middle of our winter is not an appealing prospect.
Heh. Catholic and grew up in New Orleans, but that’s all I’m saying about my Mardi Gras experiences.
Darn. I did not realize that you all were talking about Carnaval… hehe.
Yes we’ve got that in Europe. Heck, my sister is celebrating it the last couple of years with her husband who is Catholic (and their daughter).
hehehe
Ohhh c’mon now, don’t leave us in the lurch like that! At least tell us the total weight of beads you bought!
When my daughter was 12 she and her father brought home a costume like this minus the bared midriff. Needless to say it is still in the package, and I am going to try to unload it Saturday at a yard sale!
MvdG- The model doesn’t look Asian, LOL!
ermmm, revising the previous comments I think I have to change the question to the total weight of beads you GOT. Sorry LOL
Hah, well, I must say that some readers’ imaginations are probably much more interesting than the truth; I always thought it was hilarious to see women getting caught up in trying to get beads and my mom would be proud to know that I never went beyond giving winks and smiles and the occasional can of beer in exchange for the coveted plastic trinkets!
Kim Ritter: although I am quite principled I also believe in compromize.
So there is hope after all for US/European relations, LOL!
C Stanley probably those cans of beers had a LOT to do with what the ladies were willing to do for those beads. Hehe, it’s a good thing that aspect of the party is not well known here in Spain, or the men would rise up in revolution to have installed here as well!
Wow, CS You exchanged winks and smiles for trinkets? You flirted? You shameless hussy, you, LOL!
Well, to quote the anchoress, “I’m a hussy and I’m fussy” LOL
KM: “So there is hope after all for US/European relations”
I can promise you that if American women welcome us Europeans like that, if American women dress like that when a European, for instance, comes to visit the US, the transatlantic relations will be on an all time high.
hehe
K.M. and C.S. -> lol, women….
This is great but how bout a little something like this in brown sugar.. smile! its all about variety.
well there was that Beyonce picture.
Beyonce; that’s one curvey young lady…
yes indeedy
Hey how about equal time for us ladies out here in cyberspace, MvdG? Least you could do is post a pic of Brandon Routh (from Superman 2006) without a costume would be ok. LOL- I forgot this is a PG-rated blog!
Hey! It’s ann coulter!
K Gregory, LOL, well she is doing her bit to make the conservative movement more appealing.
Speaking of Ann Coulter, has anyone seen Susan Estrich’s makeover to look like her? LOL, it’s a hoot.
Yes, CS- I thought it was very funny. Still looked like Susan Estrich to me, but it was a great idea for a book cover.
Grognard- Please don’t tell me you find AC physically appealing, LOL! Isn’t she like a shiny apple- seductively sweet on the outside, but rotten to the core on the inside?
For me, once I know how someone thinks, their looks don’t matter too much. I’m trying to think of a conservative commentator or politician whose looks appeal to me, but I am drawing a big blank, LOL!
If I may point out: I am conservative for Dutch standards and I am very appealing to a lot of women.
Hmmm, still trying to think of one. . . .Still thinking. . . .No one in particular coming to mind here. Well at least this way I can keep a clear head and not get swayed by pure male magnetism, LOL!
Kim: I will pretend as if you did not leave that last comment….
MvdG – Don’t get your knickers in a knot, I was just teasing, LOL! You are probably just a few years older than my daughter-so robbing the cradle is not an option for me. Well lets see— Bill O-no, Limpy Limbaugh- God no!, Andrew Sullivan- wrong sexual orientation, George Will- no and no and no!
Sean H.—he’s ok until he opens his mouth…..
well, clear headed it is!
LOL
