Santorum Trailing By 13

According to a Rasmussen poll published today, Rick Santorum is trailing Democratic challenger Bob Casey jr. by 13%, which is the same result as Rasmussen’s survey published on the tenth of this month. Where last time 50% supported Casey and 37% planned to vote for Santorum, the results are now 54% vs. 41%.

More:

When leaners are added, Casey leads by twelve, 55% to 43%. Leaners are those who don’t initially commit to voting for either candidate but express a preference when asked a follow-up question.

The race remains in the “Democrat” column in our Senate Balance of Power summary.

Both candidates attract about four fifths of their partisan base. But Casey has a three-to-one advantage—72% to 24%—among unaffiliated voters.

Among all voters, Santorum is viewed favorably by only 46%. He is viewed unfavorably by 52% including 39% with a “very unfavorable” opinion of their Senator. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of Democrats and 61% of unaffiliated voters view Santorum “very unfavorably.”

Casey is viewed favorably by 57%.

Santorum’s seat will undoubtedly be lost for the Republicans. I give him just about 0 chance of winning this race.

As I see it, independents will decide what party wins the US elections this year. As Rasmussen’s poll shows, Casey jr. has their support.

Rick (Satan Incarnate)Santorum has managed to alienate his hometown over the cyber school flap, more people over Terri Schiavo, more still over Accu-Weather,etc.,etc.
As a lifelong Republican, his contribution to fiscal irresponsibility is enough to cast him out.
The only bad part is it’s not clear what he’d do next.Think Cheney will retire and Rick take his place?

  3. Kim Ritter says:

His uberloyalty to Bush’s failed policy’s –voted for them 95% of the time- should be enough to get him out of office. Yes, he’s a true believer, but we need someone in there who can think and vote independently!

Hum, and I thought it was just us GLBT people who hated his guts…
