    That was pretty interesting. There’s a lot of information on there, although some of it is a little misleading. One thing I’d like to point out is that non-competetive contracts are not bad or evil. I work for a company that does a lot of government contracting on sensitive electrical equipment. The vast majority of our contracts are non-compete because nobody else can provide the service we offer on these machines. I imagine that’s true for a lot of the other non-compete contracts.

    Hey Amanda,
    As one of the reporters on this project who did a substantial amount of work researching contracts, I agree with you (I wrote the story about procurement). I tried to explain this on a broader level — that contracting itself is not bad or evil — and show that the biggest problems result from a broken system.

    I also tried to show how a lot of the finger-pointing coming from Congress is disingenuous, especially in an election year, especially considering they themselves were responsible for setting up the system, the goals of the dept., and so on.
