Just another example of our representatives in Congress demanding special treatment, and getting a pass for bad behavior. I would dearly love to have them face the same music as the rest of us.
In general, I thought this story was blown up way out of proportion. Rep. McKinney should have worn her pin, or identified herself to the satisfaction of the C.P. , instead of hitting the officer with her cell phone. The officer overreacted as well by charging assault. Ms.Mckinney continued to create a circus by charging racism, and soliciting the support of the Black Caucus (tho at least she did, finally, apologize). I’m glad the whole sordid episode is over with.

No, this was a racist cop picking on a little black woman. Your assesment is real complicated considering there was no video for you to judge by. I am angry that she was forced to appologize to such a ham handed arsehole. It is the responibility of security to know whom the legislators are and to protect them. Not attack them because they are ignorant of whom they may be regardless of pins, hair syles, or whatever.
Hit him in the chest with a cell phone? Oh please.
Sorry,Sal, There’s no evidence to indicate that it was a racist incident. Security can’t know 535 members of Congress. She was supposed to have her pin on, which is how congressmen and women are identified. I took the middle ground, which was that each side overreacted. Rep McKinney is known for having a nasty temper, and there was no reason to claim racism. That is an ugly term that is overused to excuse everything nowadays. No one is claiming that it doesn’t exist, but it didn’t exist this time.
If I had done it I would have been taken down with extreme force, jailed, had my day in court, and current be residing in county.
Entitlement, definately.
I’m glad she got off. Didn’t look like that little woman hurt that big fat cop anyway. The Big Baby.
