Well, Gore’s prediction of an imminent 20ft rise in sea level is certainly weird. Most of the alarming scenarios put the rise at about half a meter this century. The one scientific paper which described conditions in which a 20ft rise could occur (melting much of Greenland and Antarctica) predicted it would take 1,000 years or so. Glaciers don’t melt overnight.
Algore says he is going to save the world from Manbearpig (half-man, half-bear- half pig). You must be afraid of Manbearpig, says Algore, and he’s really, really “cereal” about this. “Excelsior!”
So sayeth Parker &Stone in one of the funniest South Park episodes ever.
Brian, however this seems to be all they have (complaining about the prediction of a 20′ rise). Deciding not to act on global climate change because the concensus on the amount of ocean rise (not the fact of it) is less than what got into the film (although the film does appropriately point out the concensus numbers also) would really seem penny wise and pound foolish. Plus the evidence from Greenland is already that the melting of the glaciers is accelerating as some early warners of global catastrophe predicted. We dont know for sure what will happen but we do know its happening and accelerating.
Yes, I seem to remember there was a time that the scientific concensus was the earth was flat. There is global warming, how much is due to mans activity is questionable. There was a time the Mayan sacrificed human blood to keep nature in balance. Now days we’re to civilized to do that, we just sacrifice our economies.
So we have a little Ice Age from 1550-1850 and earth is actually warming after that. DOH!
Gore is a bit of an extremist, but he’s also correct in saying Bush is an extremist (about foreign policy and “unitary executive” power, anyway). Let’s be honest on both sides.

The Dailyhowler has a good documentation of the Gore smear campaign.
