Yet another top CIA official bites the political dust:
CIA Director Porter Goss’ No. 3 man at the agency, facing investigation as part of a congressional bribe probe, quit Monday, an official said.Kyle “Dusty” Foggo, the CIA’s executive director, announced his resignation in an e-mail message to agency staff, a U.S. official told United Press International on condition of anonymity.
His departure follows Goss’ hasty resignation Friday, which some reports have linked to the broadening bribe probe centered on disgraced former California GOP Congressman Randall “Duke” Cunningham.
The White House denied that Friday. “It is simply not true that (Goss’) resignation is in anyway connected with the Cunningham case,” White House spokeswoman Erin Healy told UPI.
Let’s see: given the White House’s track record, if they say that then it must mean….(you fill in the blanks: we report — you decide..)…
I’m sure it’s pure coincidence (wink-wink, nudge-nudge).
Though I’m pretty sure one official’s statement that “When you have a director announcing his departure, there is bound to be some turn-over of senior staff,”
actually translates into: “Let the new guy get his own hookers”.
At least that’s what I’ve heard.

Josh Marshall and Talking Points memo, to which Joe links under voices on the left, has been doing a ton of research, reporting and digging on the Cunnigham case. Foggo’s name has come up a lot in the whole bribery/pay to play stuff. My guess is he is looking at an indictment shortly, and I’d assume the administration knows it. Therefore they asked him to step down before the Justice Department goes after him. From what I’ve read he had no business being in the job anyhow, another crony appointment.
