Brit Hume’s Solution To How Tiger Woods Can Be Forgiven

truthexit.jpg

Fox News’ Brit Hume has a solution for how Tiger Woods can be forgiven for his sins: become a Christian:

FOOTNOTE: I know rabbi who is having problems. I’ll be sure to pass it on to him.

How nice it is to know that we now have someone we watch who can give us the news, impart to viewers how he really feels about issues and politicians he covers, and give us the answer to eternal questions — all in one place.

Woods, Hume notes, is a Buddhist. Yes, just leave it to those Buddhists to sin (as it is defined by some) — unlike people of other faiths such as John Edwards, Larry Craig, Oral Roberts, Jim Baker, Ted Kennedy, Newt Gingrich, Bill Clinton, Woody Allen, Mark Sanford a lot of others…

UPDATE: USA Today’s blog has a must-read on this. It notes that this isn’t the first time Hume has let his religious feelings be known – feelings that became more profound after the suicide death of his son. It also notes that Woods has gotten advice about seeking redemption from A Higher Source from A. Larry Ross, spokesman for Rev. Billy Graham and Rev. Rick Warren; and from a Rabbi:

And Jews have advice, too. Rabbi Irwin Kula told the Jewish Journal that the Nike spokesman — and the rest of us — should learn from the patriarchs that you can’t “just do it” when “it” is wrong.

How can anyone disagree with Hume. Obviously, a much better quality of redemption is offered by the faith associated with the guy whose father was an alien. That would be Christianity. 'nuff said…!! Now, please pass the joint.

So Brit, what words of wisdom have you got for Tiger's wife Elin Nordegren?

Its nice to see that Hume has a robust opinion of his personal religion. Perhaps those poor, misguided people who embrace an alternate religion should hang our heads in shame.

  4. I think Mr. Gandelman and some of the commentors miss the point of Brit Humes advice to Tiger Woods. It was a simple statement of faith: Christianity *claims* to offer forgiveness of sins, if Jesus Christ is accepted as Lord and Savior. Period.

Other religions don't make this claim. They never have. All they offer is a way to perfection – after enough effort & incarnations.

In other words, it's not a p1ssing contest. Christians aren't perfect. Neither are Buddhists, or Hindus, or Jews.

All sin and fall short. Christians simply *claim* their sins are forgiven by God Almighty.

Whether you believe it or don't, it sounds pretty simple to me.

As a Christian and a golfer, I applaud Mr. Hume's honestly and faith. It has been a disastrous year for Tiger Woods, he clearly needs to change something about his life. Why is it wrong for those of us with love and faith to express our beliefs to those clearly in need? I believe Tiger's soul is hurting, and in need of some direction. He desperately needs redemption and that is what is found in the Christian faith. As a Christian I believe Tiger could heal in our faith. I wish him and his family the best in 2010. God bless you one and all.

Certainly Brit Hume can offer his faith as a possible answer to Tiger's hardship. He might also suggest that Tiger turn to his own faith and reconcile his suffering, which is what Buddhism offers as well as a path of enlightened consciousness. It's somewhat distasteful to me for Brit Hume to offer his faith as the answer, instead of spiritual investment in general, because it implies that Tiger's religion is somehow flawed by suggesting the answer to his problems is to leave Buddhism behind. Stephensonbillings, you seem a reasonable person, if you were having trouble do you think it would be appropriate for me to suggest Hinduism might bring the spiritual enlightenment your religion obviously doesn't have an answer for?

  8. The next time the fundamentalists start complaining that there's an “anti-Christian” attitude in this country — meaning someone made fun of them or expressed displeasure at them — Mr. Hume's pompous, arrogant, and holier-than-thou “advice” is an example of why a lot of people find this sort of thing mock-worthy.

Great example of the modern day GOP, with religion and patriotism being the last refuge of scoundrels.

  10. roro80 says:

Well, it makes total sense, considering that Christian men never cheat on their wives. Oh, wait…

  12. Father_Time says:

His sins are forgivable with or without some god. Its up to his wife, not god.

Now if he would have had committed a crime against the natural universe by having sex with another male, then the best he could do is beg for leniency on his way to the social humiliation stocks. Some things will never be acceptable, some things are normal albeit undisciplined.

  13. Neo says:

The point lost on so many was that it appears that Tiger Woods could use some “forgiveness and redemption”. Hume suggested Christianity, but if he could get it elsewhere .. fine.

Of course, the huffy misogynists on the Left would rather claim something else, rendering them on par with the “birthers.”

  14. VeratheGun says:

    Misogynists?

You mean men who hate women?

That does not mean what you think it means.

Please at least try and have a clue before you post something, Neo.

Nothing is “on par” with the birthers.

    Well, maybe Abbot and Costello.
