http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100101/ap_on_re_us/us_limbaugh_hospital

UPDATE:
Rush Limbaugh will “take a lot of tests” according to Walter Williams, guest host on Mr. Limbaugh’s radio show while Mr. L is vacationing in Hawaii. “While pains [in chest] can be an indicator of a cardiac event, the cause of his discomfort cannot be confirmed at this time,” Williams said, adding that Mr. Limbaugh is in “good, stable condition… He’s aware and thankful for all the prayers and concerns and best wishes that have poured in to him.”
Kit Carson, Limbaugh’s chief of staff, said Mr. Limbaugh had planned to return to his radio program on Monday.

  • UPDATE from Rush Limbaugh website:
  • “Rush was admitted to a Honolulu hospital today and is resting comfortably after suffering chest pains. Rush appreciates your prayers and well wishes. He will keep you updated via RushLimbaugh.com and on Thursday’s radio program.”

He’d been vacationing and playing golf all week but today, complaining of chest pains, Mr. Limbaugh was rushed to hospital by paramedics. The last update says he was in serious condition at that time.

Spokespersons for Mr. Limbaugh are not releasing any further info at present.

The above photo is from Mr. Limbaugh’s website.

Will update when there’s more news about how he’s doing.

But there is no consolation for the pain inside your chest
The terrorist within will call you on your biases
Their already past the checkpoints and the lies

Soon everything will turn to pitch black.
The pain is jes a little bit of give back
The culmination of life lived as a louse
So jes pop another pain pill in yer mouth

and when you die they'll wrap you in the flag
and when they lift your casket it will sag
for you were just a blue eyed fat guy in this life
Like Rove you couldn't even please your wife.

So take another chomp on yer ci-gar

    Wow!! That's ugly!

  3. spirasol says:

War is peace/peace is war……lie is truth/truth is lie…….Beautiful is ugly/Ugly is beautiful……….a not so rare thing these days.

  4. OneBigAssMistakeAmerica says:

and would you waste your God given poetic talent on an ugly and hateful poem if it were Chairman Obama in this situation?

  5. spirasol says:

Chairman Obama, may be a flawed human being which is altogether a different form of creature than the hatred spewing fake dragon Limbaugh is. Moreover there is a long tradition of poking fun at those we disdain politically. See Mark Twain among many many others. It must be though, that he is your man, thus the sensitivity, sorry to have personally offended you. If you start a pro Limbaugh campaign that appears successful I will remove it. You could also petition the folks who run this website, they might decide in your favor. There are other alternatives, but would likely expose me as more than someone trying to make humor out of a disdainful man's misfortune.

  6. DaGoat says:

I don't care much for Limbaugh but hope he's OK.

  7. OneBigAssMistakeAmerica says:

NO DON'T REMOVE IT!!! You should be free to post what you will within the constraints of this blog. You are correct in your assessment on the long tradition of poking fun at those in politics. I just draw the line when it comes to someone who is ill or somehow physically or mentally suffering. My bottom line is that we are all human. I may not agree with you, Obama, and Limbaugh, but my prayers would go out to you and them when it comes to their and your health. I just found your poem below what I find acceptable and tasteful given the man's circumstances.

  8. spirasol says:

Well, believe it or not when one scrapes away the humanity, in my
opinion you end up with someone like Limbaugh, who would not be honoring
the standards you have put up. Suffice to say if our fates crossed
along the road, I feel I could hold his heart in my hand and hear his
final genuine prayers. I could do so without hesitation, human being to
human being. Now, HE, might choose someone else and that would be just
fine. You might say that I stoop to his predatorial level, and I might
agree, but I don't do this for a living. Though I have a sense of what
it must be like to be him, to metaphorically rip the flesh of another
and slurp at the blood dripping off my chin. In the wild it is the
weakened elk, the young, the old, and the infirm who are the first
targets of the lion. In the end these are words, unlikely to reach their
secondary target. However if no one laughs, it a'nt funny, right?
    ah….. right?

  9. JD_Rhoades says:

We wish Mr. Limbaugh a full recovery and a lengthy period of well-deserved rest and recuperation away from the microphones and cameras.

  10. Father_Time says:

    Chicken dance……voodoo doll…..eye of newt…..how does this stuff work….batwings…..caterpillar hearts….

  11. JeffersonDavis says:

    Spriasol,

I'm no fan of Rush Limbaugh, but can you imagine the backlash if you had done your little poem with President Obama as its subject? You'd be equated to a grand wizard of the KKK with hate writhing in your soul. You're entitled to not like Limbaugh, as we all are, but effectively wishing death upon him (or anyone) really screams of hatred. Not used to seeing that from you. Kinda disappointed.

EDIT to add: ” a different form of creature than the hatred spewing fake dragon Limbaugh is”.
Welcome to the same ranks of hatred spewing fake dragons, Spirasol.

  12. JSpencer says:

It's difficult to work up a great deal of sympathy for someone who has devoted his career so wholeheartedly to dividing Americans and pitting them one against the other. He was instrumental in ramping up the polarization between Americans beginning with the Clinton era and his personal success came at a tremendous price for everyone else. It's hard to make a case for his legacy being anything other than hate and division. There are many people in this world who are working to create a better world, not to destroy it and sow the seeds of hate. I'll save my prayers for them thanks.

  13. tidbits says:

To those who wish ill to Limbaugh or those who would not pray, or hope, for his recovery: Love your enemies. When we show hatred, disdain and lack of compassion to the Limbaughs of the world we become like them, spewing our own brand of divisiveness. If we truly reject the partisan polarization and hate filled speech exemplified by Limbaugh, we should seek to distinguish ourselves from it, not become part of it by excoriating him as he has excoriated others.

My wish for Limbaugh is that he recover and, though perhaps wishful thinking, that he learn from the experience and return a better person.

  14. JeffersonDavis says:

Limaugh is a conservative talk-radio star. Rallying his ranks is his JOB. Do I agree with him? No. Liberals have there own spokesmen who rally their ranks. Do I agree with them? No.

However, as mentioned above, when anyone becomes physically (or mentally) ill, sympathy and tact should be deployed. I'd say the same thing if Ahmadinijad was ill, or Sarah Palin, or Hillary Clinton, or anyone else.

This is one of the reasons we remain so divided in this nation. Politics is taken personally, and hatred inevitibly ensues.

  15. spirasol says:

JD, you must have your eyes and ears closed as well as closing off your imagination. I'm no fan of Obama, but has he not been called everything but a slug on a Nazi boot heel already. Death panel provider, Racist, white person hater, war monger, hater of democracy and freedom, Islamo-lover, person without birth, alien, raised in madrassas, traitor/betrayer, etc, etc, ….all untrue, and this, mostly but not all, based on the Repub noise machine.

  16. tidbits says:

JD said “This is one of the reasons we remain so divided in this nation. Politics is taken personally, and hatred inevitibly ensues.”

    Good point, JD. Thank you.

A thought for Spirasol. Hatred coming from liberals is every bit as repugnant as hatred coming from conservatives. Whether it is Sen. Coburn seeming to invite prayers for the death of Sen. Robert Byrd, or those on the left wishing death to Rush Limbaugh, all hatred is ugly.

  17. D. E.Rodriguez says:

I have my own thoughts about this despicable man—which I wll not express while he is ill.

However, after seeing so many of my Conservative friends express outrage at some of the less than compassionate comments being made about this man, I can not help going back to a day last August when I wrote a piece titled, “Ted Kennedy Joins His Brothers at Arlington National Cemetery.” (http://themoderatevoice.com/44786/ted-kennedy-j…)

    It started out as follows:

As I am writing this, Senator Edward M. Kennedy is being laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

He joins his two slain brothers, John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy.

In fact, Senator Kennedy is being buried only a short distance from where his brothers are buried, and where an eternal flame lights the graves not only of the former president and the former First Lady, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, but also the graves of their baby son, Patrick Bouvier Kennedy—who died after two days—and an unnamed stillborn daughter.

One of the comments on this post was:

    Worm Food

ARLINGTON, VA — The third and final course of Kennedy Brothers worm food has been served.

Except for my outrage, not a single objection from my Conservative friends.

    Isn't life interesting?

By the way, after incessant urging, the commenter finally apologized.

And by the way, I hope Mr. Limbaugh recovers.

  18. DaGoat says:

DE, I clinked on the link to ThinkProgress from memeorandum – they seem to be cheering for Limbaugh's death over there and I'm not seeing any “incessant urging” for apologies. This type of extremism as well as the quotes you cite on Kennedy keeps us from being the effective and tolerant country we all profess to want.

PS: I've given Stella Artois another try and it is growing on me. I had some on tap and wow, the best beer I've had in some time.

  19. Jazz says:

That poem is downright ugly, but nothing unusual in today's climate I'm afraid. It only draws more attention, I think, because of this preconceived notion that the liberal / Democratic side of the aisle is the home of “compassion” etc. and the Republicans are all hateful death mongers or whatever.

Oh, and Stella absolutely rocks. Expensive as hell around here, though.

  20. rachelmap says:

Rush Limbaugh is a sad human being; may the Almighty mend him.

  21. D. E.Rodriguez says:

    Good point, DG.

But, back to more important things: I just bought a six-pack of Stella and will sip one, or, two, or…of that great poor man's champagne tonight trying to forget this horrible year.

    Have a happy one

    Dorian

  22. DaMav says:

Interesting that many of the same people cheering for the death of Limbaugh want to be put in charge of our health care. And have a meltdown over the term “death panels”.

  23. onebigassmistakeamerica says:

Sad and hateful person. Shame on you.

  24. kathykattenburg says:

Oh yes. FAR away from the microphones and cameras!

  25. kathykattenburg says:

Actively wishing for his death, though, is a little different from sympathizing with him or even praying for his recovery. It may be a fine line, but it is a line.

  26. kathykattenburg says:

    That is beautifully said, g.c.

  27. kathykattenburg says:

Rachel, that is also beautifully said.

  28. Father_Time says:

I have followed Limbaugh since 1990. I think he is more responsible for this hard head non-cooperative social Darwinist neo-conservatism phony BS more than any other single individual. The politically damaged state of this country weighs heavily on him and his subversive propaganda.

If you love your country, why should you care if he dies? If you are Liberal, or, even Moderate, he certainly wishes the same for you and has said as much many times. What is laughable is that he has even said such things about selected Conservatives!

It is stunningly amazing the power an entertainer and mass media have over a nation. Nothing propagandized has to be true at all, just delivered by an unscrupulous propaganda artist.

  29. StockBoySF says:

JD, “Limaugh is a conservative talk-radio star. Rallying his ranks is his JOB.”

Rallying one's ranks to promote good, honest values one believes in is one thing. Publicly wishing for the president to fail and the country to continue its hard times so the Republicans can regain power is traitorous.

Limbaugh in Hawaii at the same time as Obama? And both vacationing? Ha! ;)

  32. Father_Time says:

    I like your Poem.

But it won't be veterans that will wrap him in a flag because he is one of the vast majority of political conservadips that has never served anything but himself.

Hate begats hate and hate is what he deserves in return for his. I cringe at the very thought of all the people in this country that has suffered because of what this jerk has done for greedy self interest.

All this ignoramus “turning the other cheek” crap here will get you nothing but your throat cut by your enemy. I consider it revolting, self defeating, submissive crap.

Last year at this time; ” The earth turns like a potter's wheel and out from it fly both demons and saints.” Last year at this time i would of felt anguish at this kind of cross-fire in the tribe, but this year there is a smile and a bit of laughter with all these divergent ways of expressing and seeing. As always Tidbits love your balance, and Dorian enjoy the Stella. And as always thanks for you Dr. E.

May the highest good come forth for Rush and each of you this coming year.

I plan to start anew this year, no more sleeping with Tiger Woods!

  35. Silhouette says:

Given that all of us will become sick and eventually die, we can say the thing that separates us is how we live; ie: the quality of our lives and what we contribute to humanity as a whole.

And with that in mind, I send forth to Rush Limbaugh the exact same sentiments that he has projected outwards towards the goodwill of others.

May he succeed in recovery in exact proportion to how well he wished our sitting president [and by extentsion, our nation and the world] would succeed during his term in office. No more and no less.

  36. tidbits says:

    Kind Sparrow,

Tiger will be the poorer for the loss of your affections.

    Happy New Year.

  37. archangel says:

Dear Readers; I see that the discussion has taken a turn. I know Mr. Limbaugh from prior associations through our books being neck and neck on the NYT bestseller list some years back and we appeared on various networks at the same time: Green room meetings.

I think that when a person is ill or hurt we can absolutely wish for the best possible outcome for them. There are serious changes and challenges that occur when we come close to the Spectre. I've had more than one serious brush with death myself. In those times, all bets are off as far as ego goes. The strength to live is not posited in ego, but in spirit, body, soul, animating life force.

The learnings that come for many in critical times, will likely be far more than just publicly expressed and p.r. gratitude to the helping professionals and Mr. Limbaugh's 'fans.' There may be other changes required of a person who has been handed back their life.

For Mr. Limbaugh, it will be perhaps a hard call between doing what others want him to do for them, and what his own heart and soul truly wants to do for his own life.

This is just my two cents worth. It's not an apologia. It's just a thought from one who has definitely been the subject of some of Mr. Limbaugh's lashing out. But I've also seen his humanity behind the scenes. In hospital he is not Rush Limbaugh the conservative talk host. In hospital he is just a human being who has been scared half to death.

    thanks.

  43. sortaRepublican says:

Google “Christian Reconstructionists.” These psychopaths love Rush who lit the fire. They say they have a “moral duty” to execute 25,000,000 Americans TODAY, millions more later, for violating their Baptist Bible. They want our government to impose the death penalty for not being a virgin at marriage, reading porn, being gay, using birth control, doubting creationism, receiving welfare, being sympathetic to liberalism, etc., at any point in time even ex post facto.

They're rich Southerners who want your government to enforce their Bible against YOU. One of their leaders is Judge Moore who was the chief judge on the Alabama Supreme Court. He carved their 10 commandments on the wall of the courthouse or tried.

What hath Rush wraught? My 3rd eye weeps for him.

  44. sortaRepublican says:

Wouldn't it be cool if Rush's “free-market” insurance policy cut off his benefits by claiming he had a pre-existing medical condition, and he lost his job because he's sick and thus poor, he had to live in a cardboard box to pay his hospital bill by selling his blood which went to an inner-city aids patient?

  45. JeffersonDavis says:

” I'm no fan of Obama, but has he not been called everything but a slug on a Nazi boot heel already. “

I totally agree, Spirasol. Two wrongs do not make a right. Both sides need to stop this partisan crap – Conservatives like Limbaugh as well as Liberals.

  46. JeffersonDavis says:

“Rallying one's ranks to promote good, honest values one believes in is one thing. Publicly wishing for the president to fail and the country to continue its hard times so the Republicans can regain power is traitorous. “

I “sort of” agree with that statement, Stockboy. Everyone should stand behind our President, regardless of party. He is OUR President, whether or not you agree with him. However, Limbaugh's wish for his “failure” was a desire to see his “socialist policies” fail, as Limbaugh feels (as do most Conservatives) that socialism itself is “traitorous”. Not saying I totally agree with them – as I believe that capitalism does not belong in certain areas (police, fire protection, education, medicine, and the like).
