Liberalism unbound: Shifting the center of gravity in American politics »
Evolutionary news from The New York Times: “Scientists have discovered fossils of a 375 million-year-old fish, a large scaly creature not seen before, that they say is a long-sought ‘missing link’ in the evolution of some fishes from water to a life walking on four limbs on land.”
Fascinating stuff. And surely “a powerful rebuttal to religious creationists”. But I’m sure they and their ID-pushing compatriots of denial will offer up some see-no-truth, hear-no-truth spin in response. And I’m sure it will be as silly as usual.
Mr. Wilford of the Times makes the mistake of equating “young earth” creationists with all creationists. A rather ironic mistake for someone who has just written a column outlining the subtle yet fundamental characteristics which separate this fossil from other fish.
Fair point, Brian. Not all creationists are created equal.
Yeah some creationists are even more ignorant then others.
At least science is neutral when it comes to Theistic Evolution. That’s a more tenable situation than the Darwinists find themselves in with regards to science.
Jerusalem Post: Darwin is no problem for Jews

Rav Kook, who was to become the chief rabbi of pre
state Palestine, saw no need to disprove evolution.
Nice to know Judaism isn’t terrified of thought, and progress. Thanks for the heads up Holly, “chest pound” much respect from this agnostic for Rav Kook.
Rav Kook’s viewpoint works just as well for the Christian as for the Jew. The heavens display the glory of God, but they don’t prove his existence, and to pretend otherwise is folly. Rav Kook is a very wise man.
Christianity’s “young earth” contingent is more vocal (and thereby more troublesome) than Judaism’s haredi Creationists, but no more of a threat to the faith. I sympathize with my young earth sisters and brothers, but I resist their attempts to hitch our faith to the ox cart of science.
