The U.S. has a big new bomb that can penetrate some 60 feet of concrete:

That's the thing about malignant capitalism. In order to keep it going at other nation's expense[s] you have to keep devleoping bigger and nastier weapons of “defense” to keep those “nasty” “terrorists” from retaliating against your “benevolent” aspirations for their “liberation”.

We could of course be putting that money for R&D into getting our domestic shit together so we could prosper in other ways, but you know how it is…”tradition” is so hard to undo.

Sadly, we still live in a world where we all don't get all. We need military R&D to not only ensure our own security, but also enjoy the technological developments that come along with it.

    It's a lot like NASA.

I suppose “hardened and deeply buried targets” was guaranteed to be beyond the grasp of many.

You can tell when the Pentagon invites the neocons over and plays the Matrix series as as a marketing tool instead of their weekend entertainment.

  5. StockBoySF says:

    Thank God it's not nuclear.

  6. DLS says:

Not only this, the US's largest new bomb, but projects designed to “defeat” WMD “agents” using non-nuclear means, have been sought as alternatives to nuclear bombs because of the political liabilities that accompany nuclear bombs and inhibit their rational and reasonable uses. Anti-nuclear sentiment and true pathology (selectively anti-US and -Western, often in practice, as well as anti-Israel) has long created a political liability associated with these weapons and their use that we move mountains to avoid.

We need a bomb that would cut through decades of untruths, exposing the false guts of the war on terror, lobbyist democracy, government by corporations. ……now I'm starting to drool….now that's a powerful weapon.

  8. DLS says:

It's called using your senses and more importantly, using your mind, Spirasol — it's what so many of us have done for years in dissecting junk and worse from the media (with its liberal bias an doften an agenda as well) and other things from government, not limited to wanting to intervene and exercise its power anywhere and everywhere it can.

Uh am I the only one that thinks this is a good thing? I feel like I am taking crazy pills as no one seems to be noting this but if effective this is a sweet strategic weapon. Its good to be sitting on some nukes but for practical purposes you need more conventional weapons and highly strategic ones(if say they avoid bombing friendly countries embassies by mistake or something) are highly desirable as they come with a possible payload of hurting the leadership will not turning the populace more against you. Of course they are not often used that way but this is good and useful weaponry in the current era. So I guess I am the hawk now…weird.
