Terror Attack on Revolutionary Guard ‘Backed By U.S. and Britain’: Kayhan, Islamic Republic of Iran

Some of Iran’s top military commanders were killed in a terrorist attack on Sunday, and according to this article from Iran’s state-controlled Kayhan newspaper, the regime holds the U.S. and Britain responsible.

The Kayhan news item says in part:

“A terrorist blew himself up at a meeting of tribal elders in southeastern Iran Sunday, martyring at least 31 people, including top commanders. The attack took place in the city of Pisheen near the border with Pakistan in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. … Abdolmalek Rigi, leader of the Jundallah terrorist group [People's Resistance Movement of Iran], claimed responsibility for the attack. … General Nur-Ali Shushtari, deputy commander of IRGC ground forces, General Muhammad-Zadeh, IRGC commander in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, IRGC commander for the town of Iranshahr and commander of the Amir al-Momenin unit, all died in this terrorist act.”

“Majlis speaker Ali Larijani said that the United States was implicated in the deadly attack. ‘We consider the recent terrorist attack to be the result of U.S. action. This is a sign of American animosity toward our country’ … Mr. Obama has said he will extend his hand toward Iran, but with this terrorist action he has burned his hand,” he said referring to U.S. President Barack Obama’s repeated diplomatic overtures to Tehran.”

I have an interesting reaction to Iran's reaction...

I seriously doubt we were involved. This seems to be more of the typical reaction we get from Iran...but I wouldn't be shocked to find out that we had a hand in this, nor would anyone else.

    I agree 100% Shannon.

If we didn't, good. If the CIA arranged it.....good.
Well......not really. But I wouldn't be shocked, either.
  • Hard to say for sure since Iran would blame foreigners regardless.

I read that they are blaming Pakistan now...just when you thought we were the bad guy in the region.

Obama reaching out to Iran plus the Mousavi thing has really hurt the believability of the regime's propaganda among Iranians. They need to blame SOMETHING on the US and Britain, so that they can have an excuse to continue to rebuff diplomacy and advocate for nuclear arms.
