Charges To Be Filed In Balloon Boy Case

Word is coming out that there will be charges filed in the balloon boy case. This would certainly suggest that it was a hoax, although it could also relate to putting the child in danger (however since he wasn’t in the balloon that would seem to be unlikely).

It also seems there has been some serious side damage, a family may have lost their livelihood because rescuers rushed to the balloon and in doing so destroyed their wheat crop.

    livelihood, not “livelyhood “
Is spell check that difficult for you?

  2. archangel says:

Dear Joeaudio, actually wordpress does not have a spellchecker in every version. I dont know which version Patrick is using. We always appreciate people letting us know about typos. I have plenty in my own articles and our line editor often doesnt work on weekends. We're all paid alot here at TMV, exactly $0. So sometimes it takes time for someone from admin to see what's what. Thanks.

    Thanks for the catch Joe.

Not so much for the sarcasm, but it's cool.

    Archangel,
I know that you are a wonderful writer.
But it doesn't matter how much you get paid to write, you should take pride in your work.
You probably meant to write “doesn't” instead of “doesnt.”

Sloppiness is never good, especially when it is public.

If I'm not sure of spelling when I write something (and I am not a professional writer,) I use a simple text editing program to check. It is not difficult.
I still make mistakes when writing in haste.
Sorry to trouble you with this minor complaint.
    Best wishes,
    Joe

“it doesn't matter how much you get paid to write, you should take pride in your work.”

dear joeaudio, none of us get paid to write for TMV, in fact, often have to give money to keep it going. But all of us take great pride in trying to bring articles to the TMV audience, even though some of us have to take days to put just one article together. Some are far faster. I'll try to spell right and put in apostrophes in contractions, but I cant promise always, because sometimes an article is breaking news and has to go up immediately, or… more likely, for me at least, I have handicapped assisted turned on my computer and still somedays the typos get by.

    thanks,
    dr.e

Joe, can you tell us what planet you're visiting us from? I can tell you're not from here, because if you were, it surely would not occur to you to be so breathtakingly and gratuitously nasty over something as minor, to use your word, as one mistyped letter in one word, given the heartache, tragedy, and villainy that takes place at every moment all over the globe.

I want to know the name of your world, and how I get there — it must be a blessedly wonderful place to live.

  7. joeaudio says:

    Kathy,
    I'm “nasty?”

    Sorry,
I don't expect great writing here, mediocrity is the best I can expect from TMV.
You are the only writer here that I always enjoy reading. I'm surprised that you, of all people would take offense.
I said “Sorry to trouble you with this minor complaint” and that was meant sincerely, not as snark.

Where I come from, people take pride in their work. Artistry is not expected, but good craftsmanship is.
If that's too much to ask here, excuse me for caring.

  8. archangel says:

Ok Joe, this is enough now. Let's stay to the topic of the article. If in doubt, read the rules for commenters. Your point is already taken, and your point of view has already been noted.

    thanks,
    dr.e

I'd like to hear if charges have been filed against the head of this family if the balloon flight was a stunt.

Also Joeaud, why don't you post links to your hard and many works of “good craftsmanship” writing so we can judge for ourselves. No? Thought so.

Of course I/we will do all we can to keep our readers updated.

I understand a news conference is planned for Sunday morning, though obviously these events can be delayed. But as soon as we have news we'll let you know.

this is a sad situation. . .so many ways to put the children in danger. . . to the child the parents are god. . .and there is so much vulnerability and wildness in little boys of this age. . .it was heartbreaking to watch the faces of all three of these little boys with the backfire of exploitation. . .when little Falcon threw up during the interview and the world of adults just went on. . .the kids surely learned one more lesson. . if this is a hoax, i hope that same day when Falcon gets old enough to see patterns in these bewildering maize of first feelings, and first events that shape a life. . .someday as he begins to unpack the parental deceptions and betrayals i hope he will be able to see the strength of his soul that could not go along with the parental deceptions and betrayals. . . .

when Falcon threw up on T.V. i remembered a book i read years ago by M.Scott Peck called People of the Lie. . .it was a book about evil.. . . .in that book Peck said that often people that have goodness within souls will often become nauseated in the presence of evil. . . .the American heart held this family and Falcon for a few hours, then the media and the family seeking the lights, and truly they did get their desired “reality show”. . .UGH!. . . .I think and feel Falcon at six threw up his innocence, “Good morning America”. . . .UGH!. . . .

My heart breaks for these boys. Is it not interesting how the body does literally manifest inner turmoil? Little Falcon, bless him, literally “blew” the father's story. Out of the mouths of babes. Puns aside, I am a mom and grandmom and I still cannot wrap my mind around people who abuse and exploit their precious babies. I can only hope that at some point, the parents will discover some conscience.

  15. kathykattenburg says:

    Very, very well said, Leebot.

dear sparrow, I have contacted Tyrone directly about 10 hours ago about what you experienced with disqus. We are on it. Thank you for letting us know.

Re. the hoax and the bigger problem, the family:

    * Many years in jail are not warranted. A few months to maybe a year might do some good, though.

    * No need to rush to seize and remove the children from the wacko parents. Counseling is probably better for them first (and anger management for the father).

    * At least we haven't heard a Herd of fools clamoring for all kinds of stupid new restrictions on large metal balloons, balloons of any kind, helium sales to private parties, and so on. At least this didn't result already in the equivalent of Lautenberg or Schumer wanting to ban all unpowered flight here, there, and everywhere, or all kinds of restrictions on flights (when and where and by whom), which would have been the supreme political idiocy to follow and complement the popular and media idiocy.

    * At least this didn't happen in New York or Washington where it would have been hyped worse than ever, with stupid prose (“Miracle on the Hudson”) and worse political nonsense to follow (see above).
