“Tonight, We Are All ‘Too Irrational To Be Dealt With Sanely’”

Can you imagine — I mean, can you only just imagine — if anyone on the left had actually published something as overwrought — as utterly irrational — as this?

Overwrought? Irrational? What am I saying? There is only one term that accurately describes this (go straight to the third paragraph), and that is: too irrational to be dealt with sanely.

  • DLS
I'm not surprised if lefties, as usual, tend to react irrationally, even insanely, about it, as they do about Limbaugh.

I AM COMING TO EAT YOUR DREAMMMMMSSSSSSS! nom-nom-nom. Dreams of the oppressed taste GOOOOOOD!

    *laughs maniacally*
  • JSpencer
I saw that earlier today Kathy and my reaction was similar to yours. Somebody really, really needs to get out of their own head and go interact with the real world for a change, maybe breathe some air with a higher oxygen content? I suppose the right reaction is to laugh out loud and then ignore, but there is something perversely disturbed in the idea behind that post. I'll say this much, there is an embarrassingly high threshold for embarrassment over there.
  • AustinRoth
I assume you have never read the Democratic Underground?
  • DaGoat
Speaking for myself, I am not nor do I have any wish to be Rush Limbaugh. But I could certainly imagine people also saying things like "Tonight, we are all Obama".
  • JSpencer
Frankly I would find that embarrassing too; I doubt we'll ever see that particular plea for solidarity though. But yes, points for nuttery can go to anyone, regardless of ideology... the right just seems to have a much bigger corner on that market... at least in this century. Be patient, the balance can always shift. ;-)

The last time I heard a statement phrased like this, it was when the Europeans were saying something like "Today, we are all United States citizens". Remember that? That was right after the towers came down. Remember when Kennedy said "All the citizens of the world are citizens of Berlin"? Yeah, the construction is powerful, and highly appropriate for really incredible, universally tragic or glorious events. That is the construction this craptastic post is using to describe Rush *being voted out of buying a damn football team*.

I guess I'm a sicko. I loved it and hate Limburger.

So will Republicans hate the NFL now?
  • TheMagicalSkyFather
In a place where only money matters it also matters how you made that money since that is all we judge people off of in these situations. I find it pretty amusing that "outrage" kept the king of "outrage" out of a personal dream. It is sad but maybe he should have thought for a second as his mouth spent twenty years writing checks.
  • Zzzzz
The NFL is a private organization. The can allow who ever they want to buy in or not. Last time I checked, it was conservatives who were fighting the most passionately for the right of businesses and other private organizations to do what they want to based on their own views of their best interests. I guess this is yet another conservative ideal Redstate and Rush are throwing under the bus as soon as it becomes inconvenient.

Can you imagine — I mean, can you only just imagine — if anyone on the left had actually published something as overwrought — as utterly irrational — as this?

Yes, because I look at the Huffington Post and Daily Kos and see it all the time.

    For example Russell Simmons:
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/russell-simmons/t...

For even batter ones MSNBC is the place to go, this one is classic:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyEe06Igat0

Yes Republicans are like Hanoi Jane Fonda, ROTFLMAO

The far-left is just as bad as the far-right, only those so far off center to either side can't recognize it and only think its on the other side.

Because of this, such things don't merit a thread in my view, they are just partisan babble. Media Matters, and Newsbusters, Glen Bech and Keith Olbermann can handle this without my posting. I don't feel the need to go run and write up every little piece here. But hey, thats just my opinion, others are entitled to theirs as well, if they feel a compelling need, more power to them, I just wont buy into the talking point, I'd rather focus on more important things than this trivia. Now if someone took the time to point out that this partisan garbage happens on both sides and is willing to denounce both, thats not trying to score some cheap point., it might be worth noting.

    Hey, wait a darn minute!!!!!

I've I'm Rush Limbaugh tonight, then where in the world is my cut of his pay?
    LOL

    And to Kathy,

"I mean, can you only just imagine — if anyone on the left had actually published something as overwrought — as utterly irrational — as this?"

I completely agree with Leonidas. The left consistently makes ridiculus statements like that one. And yes, that statement from the right is also ridiculous.
  • JeffersonDavis
I wouldn't want Limbaugh to own my team either.
But could you imagine what the backlash would be if, say, Al Sharpton were denied ownership of any NFL team because of his views? It would be immediately called racism.
What's to stop the NFL from selling a team to someone based upon their faith and their views upon God?

Plain and simple, when you put something up for sale (be it a house, a car, an NFL team, or a naked mole-rat), then you must sell with no reservation, and treat ALL prospective buyers equally.

"We all have our dreams in life… such as they might be. Rush dreamed of being an owner in the NFL"

I really felt sorry for Mr. Limbaugh, until I read one of the comments on "Obama Throws Crumbs To Seniors" from a Senior who desperately welcomes the $250 lousy dollars he may get instead of the Social Security COLA increase next year.

"So will Republicans hate the NFL now?" ~ lurxst

    Close... how about a boycott?

    http://moltenthought.blogspot.com/2009/10/punt-...

Yah, I'm sure a few winged out reactionaries are really, really going to put the hurt on the NFL. :-)

  • imavettoo
As if Limbaugh himself were rational.
  • imavettoo
    Link please?
  • Zzzzz
I can imagine that backlash, because I've seen it, and I can imagine Rush and Redstate defending the poor, put-upon business against the accusations of racism and religious bigotry. When the tables are turned, the tune changes pretty quickly, though, doesn't it?
  • JeffersonDavis
I actually agree with you. But a wrong is a wrong, no matter who perpetrates it.
Even Limbaugh is entitlted to that even if he dogs the left for the same thing.

Just like racism is wrong from blacks, whites, and asians - no matter from whom it is "usually" given.
  • DLS
"I could certainly imagine people also saying things like "Tonight, we are all Obama".

    Oh, yes.

For example, it would be people like those who wrote the following, if they had chosen to be more forthright and succinct,

    http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laurea...

as well as, say, dolts like Rick Sanchez (louder and far lower than Limbaugh has ever been).
