Fox News: Good Economic News Shows It’s The “Bush Recovery”

The brazenness of partisan rhetoric each day hits new lows. And here is one for the books:

For months since January 20, 2009 when President Barack Obama took over any bad economic news was attributed to Obama, even when he was in office for less than a month.

But now the stock market has hit 10,000 and amid some gloomy economic news there are some positive signs — so Fox News’ Neil Cavuto calls it “the Bush recovery.”

Get it?

If health care reform passes with no or one GOP vote and it proves popular, presumably Cavuto will then call it “the Bush health care reform plan.”

Many Republicans will now take up Cavuto’s terminology. Many Democrats (and economic experts) will be aghast — and many independent voters will feel vindicated by their decision not to join a political party.

Perhaps they are referring to the fact that Obama continued Bush's bailout policies. I think they were horrible ideas both when Bush started it and when Obama continued the Bush agenda.

    'Obama continued Bush's bailout policies"

And Guantanamo policies, and not having the troops flee the Middle East immediately, and...

What imitation and flattery of Dubya!

And why the angst about this from the farther Left? After all, you just got a slimy victory over Limbaugh.

"After all, you just got a slimy victory over Limbaugh"

I wouldn't call that a victory for the left. It would have happened had no one heard about his bid. The NFL and its owners are way too careful with the NFL brand.

As for what Fox News says, who cares? They play to the 28%ers that will love Bush and the GOP forever and ever.

"I wouldn't call that a victory for the left."

I would, given their behavior about it (including on this site). I still am intrigued by the idea of Limbaugh's being able to buy part ownership later, after initial approval, or earlier through a "front" company or agent.

As to Fox, I'm not joining the many rabid Fox-haters (who despise it for departing from rigid to occasionally extremist liberal-bias-and-activism orthodoxy, taken to extreme currently by MSNBC for a marketing edge). I typically avoid paying attention to Fox, as it was known ages ago for being tawdry (the word I use still) and gimmicky, such as with its sports programming (stupid graphics and sound effects; the stupid football robot; pre-game and post-game idiocy) and regular programming ("ALERT" in bold, flashing letters all day about a trivial news item; graphics and sound effects as with sports).

The bailouts were a horrible idea. The only idea that would have been worse would have been to let the free market rebound on its own, since deregulation brought us to the brink of financial disaster.
