When one wants to get a sense of how people on the Afghan-Pakistan border feel about something, Pakistan’s Frontier Post, based in Quetta, Pakistan, is a good place to look.
In this indignant editorial reaction to yesterday’s ill-fated NATO attack in Afghanistan’s Kunduz Province, the Frontier Post equates NATO forces with Taliban fighters, attacks the sincerity of the West’s stance on the value of human life and questions U.S. justification for the war. Another irony – according to the editorial, one of America’s most wanted terrorists, Taliban leader Mullah Omar, has directed his forces to avoid civilian casualties!
The Frontier Post editorial says in part:
“As American and European big wigs harp about fighting in Afghanistan to secure their own streets, Afghans pay the price with rivers of innocent blood – the blood of civilians, their children and their women. The latest in this incessant bloodbath was Friday’s NATO air strike in Kunduz Province. The attack claimed at least 90 lives, mostly civilian, which the NATO command is reluctant to own up to.
“This deadly strike negates the directive of NATO’s new commander in Afghanistan, who recently ordered his forces to call off assaults when civilian lives are at risk – an implicit acknowledgment of the massive civilian killings that result from coalition operations. The directive was issued primarily to shuck off the negative consequences of these massacres on NATO’s war in Afghanistan, as was the recently issued order of Taliban leader Mullah Omar to his own forces. Because although Taliban actions are directed mostly at military targets, their roadside bombs, suicide bombings, ambushes and frontal attacks nevertheless exact a heavy toll on civilian lives as well.
“But the saddest part of this colossal massacre of Afghan civilians is the lack of tears welling up in Western eyes. They seem to keep a meticulous tab of their casualties of their own soldiers, but don’t venture the vaguest calculation of how many Afghan civilians are being killed.”

Americans, since they are rather new to imperialism, don't see anything wrong here. They don't know that when a country moves in and occupies another country, they OWN it. Anything that goes wrong after they take occupation is THEIR fault.
American leaders try to shift the blame, but everyone else in the world knows why it is not a good idea to occupy a country. Who wants that responsibility? Especially if they can't profit from it.
Uh, these people got it all wrong. The usa doesn't even care about avoidable deaths in their own country, never mind Afghanistan. An estimated 300,000 people are killed by poor health care, poor testing of drugs and the fact that most hospitals are breeding grounds for biological contamination.
What they truly care about is the propaganda.
That these munitions are bought from war profiteers who own the government is never pointed out. Afghanistan is just a place to waste explosives. For the merchants of death to make another billion to buy even more of the propaganda machine known as “news” and to throw sand in the face of anyone who is paying attention. That the war machine just wants to make more and more and give less and less to the rest. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq could go on forever. Hell, we still got armies in Germany and Japan, which is insane after 65 years, but the waste is great.
Change? The only true conservatives are the rich and the poor because they both know that ANY change is going to be bad for them. The poor are increasing at an astounding rate as the middle class is put on part time with no benefits and lower middle class are losing jobs at an incredible rate. As less and less people can afford medical care even with insurance, and more and more have to declare bankruptcy to even keep their lowered earnings. Thus the pool of conservatives is just going to mushroom.
The people in Pakistan will never understand why no one cares about killing foreigners, Glenn Beck just got Obama to play chicken and Obama just folded. No one will ever hear that semihuman express any sympathy for the brown people slaughtered. That is where the new poor go, to hear someone tell them that is not their fault that their wages dropped. It is “the Other's fault.” That the “Other” is in the WHITE house.
The rich owning the propaganda machine are increasing their share of all wealth at a rate that has never been achieved before in human history. Beck will never point that out.
So, americans don't care about Afghan's deaths.
