White House Releases Text of Brazen Children Indoctrination Message (UPDATED)

89yuoyuytrd.jpg

The White House has just released the text of a controversial back-to-school speech that President Barack Obama will be making to our children tomorrow. The speech will be broadcast directly into the schools, mainlining into the minds of our vulnerable children in a brazen attempt to, in the guise of civics education, indoctrinate our young ones and to fill their little heads with communist propaganda.

No wonder parents were concerned and are planning to keep their children home tomorrow or at the very least not to sign those permission slips.

These are some of the controversial, Marxist, socialist, fascist ideas that Obama will be peddling tomorrow:

He will start innocently enough:

Hello everyone – how’s everybody doing today? I’m here with students at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. And we’ve got students tuning in from all across America, kindergarten through twelfth grade. I’m glad you all could join us today.

Then, he will try to get sympathy from our children by telling them how, when he was young, his family lived in Indonesia for a few years, and his mother didn’t have the money to send him where all the American kids went to school, and Socialist stuff like that.

But then:

“I’m here today because I have something important to discuss with you. I’m here because I want to talk with you about your education and what’s expected of all of you in this new school year.” And about “responsibility for making sure you stay on track, and get your homework done, and don’t spend every waking hour in front of the TV or with that Xbox.”

Then, worse, Big Government: “Your government’s responsibility for setting high standards, supporting teachers and principals, and turning around schools that aren’t working where students aren’t getting the opportunities they deserve.”

He will talk about our children fulfilling their responsibilities, showing up in school, paying attention to teachers; listening to their parents, grandparents and other adults; and putting in the hard work it takes to succeed.

He’ll tell them that they can be anything they want to be as long as they are willing to work hard for it: a good writer, an innovator or an inventor.

He’ll tell them that they could even be a mayor or a Senator—a Democratic one, of course—or a Supreme Court Justice.

He’ll tell them how important an education is; he will tell them about those who quit school but bounced back and succeeded; that “the story of America isn’t about people who quit when things got tough. It’s about people who kept going, who tried harder, who loved their country too much to do anything less than their best.”

And such radical ideas as, “Here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future.”

As we knew he will be asking for contributions to his causes:

So today, I want to ask you, what’s your contribution going to be? What problems are you going to solve? What discoveries will you make? What will a president who comes here in twenty or fifty or one hundred years say about what all of you did for this country?

And he dares to conclude with:

So don’t let us down – don’t let your family or your country or yourself down. Make us all proud. I know you can do it.

Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America.

Now that you have read it, you have to agree that this broadcast that uses taxpayer dollars to spread President Obama’s socialist ideology is nothing less than forced indoctrination. Worse, it is trying to create a personality cult like Kim Jong-Il and Saddam Hussein; this is something you’d expect to see in North Korea or in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq—not in the United States of America.

Parents from all political parties should be offended and outraged by this disrespect of parental authority and personal family values.

America, stop this madness, stop this president. Do the right thing. Tomorrow, keep your children out of school and take the whole family out for a great day of adventure and real learning. Better yet, starting tomorrow, take your children out of school and home school them for at least kindergarten through grade 12

Yet again his critics scream and he comes out looking like a guy you wish was your child's teacher. It is a speech I wish I would have seen as a child. For any interested in the hoopla over it that watch it I think the only thing the right can say now is, “well he changed it all and now it “looks” all innocent” which will ring pretty hollow to all but their supporters. Yet again the right fails to see that the best way to tank him is to actually allow him to make mistakes instead of projecting their coming punch so that he can dodge and lay them out.

  • derHundepo

..”Your government’s responsibility for setting high standards, supporting teachers and principals, and turning around schools that aren’t working where students aren’t getting the opportunities they deserve”…

Why is it that I can already hear cries of “overreaching government”, “pro-union bias”, and something about either quotas or reverse discrimination? Oh, and probably something about insinuating (or just straight out accusing) people bad parenting, too. If it weren't so sad, it would be entertaining.

  • DaGoat

Here's a link to the actual address if you want to read it without the editorial comments:

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/MediaResources/Prepar

    I predict many bored children.

  • Lit3Bolt

I agree, DaGoat. Things were more interesting when I was in high school and Clinton was on television declaring, “I did not have sex with that woman.” Now that was exciting!!

  • imavettoo

Not as exciting as “My Pet Goat” or are you DaGoat?

  • Workhorse

If he would have provided the text a week ago, and given an indication it was only the obvious reminding kids of the need to stay in school, listen to teachers and parents, and do your best, then there would have been no over the top emotive outburst by the millions of people who don't seem to trust him.

  • kritt11

    Workhorse
Why should he have to provide the text? He's not some kind of enemy of state– he's our president. His job is to look to the future and that includes providing leadership in the early stages.
Maybe people could have at least waited until he had spoken to start tearing him apart!

  • TheMagicalSkyFather

From everything I have read it was yet to be completed. Now that it is they have released it.

  • Workhorse

If a number of people don't trust you as leader, you need to communicate clearly and early on your actions so they understand your intent. It's an unfair burden of our polarized society, but it goes with the job and responsibility. Otherwise the untrusting people are left to fill in the leader's intent, which allows their imaginations to run amok, as we have seen the last few days.

We all know of the obvious mistakes made by prior leaders when they took unexplained actions without the support of their people. If President Obama want's to avoid those same mistakes of prior leaders, he will need to clearly communicate his objectives, intent and approach well before he takes action.

  • http://polimom.com Polimom

Workhorse, they gave more than an indication. They iterated, and reiterated, that the message would be exactly this. It says exactly what they said it would.

  • Workhorse

Then they should have planned to have it completed a week prior. They had plenty of time and did not need to wait to the very last minute.

  • Father_Time

Maybe we should ask for a communist leader from China to speak to our children since their economy is growing in leaps and bounds and ours is falling like a rock. Not to mention that the Republicans seem to like the Chinese and Vietnamese communists. So they should be happy to have a leftist from their most favored nation business partners indoctrinate the kiddies.

    Just not a black President.

  • caymen

I don't agree, those who started this whole overblown reaction aren't doing so out of concern for our children. They flat out don't want Obama to be seen in any way positive by anyone.

  • Workhorse

When people don't trust you, you have to show them. Just telling them “trust me, this is how it will be” doesn't work when they don't trust you. That is the whole point. You wouldn't buy a product off craigslist sight unseen from someone you didn't know or trust; same thing here.

  • TheMagicalSkyFather

You are correct they cannot predict the future and other peoples hang ups and it is a flaw in the Admin. of course since no one can predict the future its a flaw we all share. I have a feeling if he would have had it immediately people would now be saying how creepy it was that it was so pre-prepared, could hidden messages be inside and we do not know it???

  • Workhorse

With regard to the people who started it, you are probably correct. But it got traction and spread to a large number of people due to the trust issue. If he wanted to prevent it from happening, he could have by following a couple of effective steps.

  • kritt11

For something major, I would agree- but this really doesn't fall into that
category. It shifts the responsibility from those whose judgment is in error
rather than from the source of the controversy. I think its ridiculous that
something like this became a controversy.

Those who are attempting to paint him as a Marxist or a socialist are
responsible- because they are so far off base. When Bush was in power and
the medial reported comparisons to Hitler,it caused a lot of outrage on the
right, and the source usually ended up apologizing.

  • Leonidas

Isn't this the edited version after the objections and changes were made?

  • Workhorse

Some may have tried to call it creepy, but there would be no latching points for the claim. It wouldn't have gained any traction and would have quickly slipped beneath surface.

The key is for him to start communicating early, clearly, completely and consistently so there are no surprises generated from his actions. When people know what to expect, they can more quickly adjust and become comfortable with the path, and that leads to trust building.

  • Workhorse

A valid point, this was not something major until outside agitators made it major. However, considering the small quagmire things seem to be in for the moment, it isn't that hard to be thorough with every event and action until such time public opinion stabilizes. There are certainly the resources for it and no excuse for not being out front on every planned event in the near future.

  • vey9

It's all Jim Greer's fault. He, all by himself, made Obama back down, or so says his press release. Now he will let his children watch it. Too bad his chidren are in PRIVATE school.
    http://wdbo.com/localnews/2009/09/florida-gop-c

  • kritt11

Well, I agree that they need to anticipate the problems from outside agitators, but that doesn't mean that I am not blaming the outside agitators for fanning the flames.

To be fair, Obama hasn't done anything to arouse that kind of reaction. This must be the GOP's plan to win back the WH- keep pounding on every appearance and speech until the president has no credibility left.

  • D. E.Rodriguez

Leonidas says: “Isn't this the edited version after the objections and changes were made? :

Would you mind sharing with us the unedited version and higlighting the changes that were made?

    Thank you

    Dorian

  • http://polimom.com Polimom

vey — I saw that. Pretty funny. It was, in fact, Greer's about-face that made me wonder how he and others were going backtrack their statements to their kids.

  • vey9

“how he and others were going backtrack their statements to their kids.”

Dat's an easy one — he won't. Love means never having to say . . .
Besides, I'm sure his kids are used to his duplicity by now, so they won't care.

  • LionAslan

And where would we find your factual non-edited version? Give us the link to back up your claim.

  • Father_Time

I too would very much like to read this edited version of President Obama's words for our children.

I cannot imagine any president being so stupid as to attempt to “partisan politically indoctrinate” the nation’s children on national TV.

IMO wing-nut hysteria is starting to feed on itself. .Surely you agree

  • JeffersonDavis

    Father_Time, my American brother…..

You absolutely refuse to admit that the Department of Education had lesson plans to go along with this speech, don't you?

No president has been stupid enough to indoctrinate children. Now that the lesson plans have been pulled, that precedent won't be set tomorrow. Now, everyone should shut the heck up and just let the man be president…..
    …..until he does it again.

You have to hold all presidents to the fire.

  • JeffersonDavis

    One last thing, Father_Time:

The following is from abcnews.com and outlines how the lesson plans were changed
    - http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/09

From Jake Tapper and Sunlen Miller – ABC News

In an acknowledgment that the Department of Education provided lesson plans written somewhat inartfully, surrounding the President Obama’s speech to students next Tuesday, the White House today announced that it had rewritten one of the sections in question.

President Obama will talk to students from Pre K thru 12th grade about personal responsibility and the importance of staying in school, White House aides said.

As one of the preparatory materials for teachers provided by the Department of Education, students had been asked to, “Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. “

  • Lit3Bolt

Here's amusing commentary from noted center-right pundit, Cap'n Ed:

“Update II: I’ve run the speech through a word frequency counter and found the following results:

    * 56 iterations of “I”
    * 19 iterations of “school”
    * 10 iterations of “education”
    * 8 iterations of “responsibility”
    * 7 iterations of “country”
    * 5 iterations each of “parents”, “teachers”
    * 3 iterations of “nation”

In other words, Barack Obama referenced himself more than school, education, responsibility, country/nation, parents, and teachers combined. And to think that people accused Obama of self-promotion!”

Now to be fair, Ed does the same to Reagan in his speech to schoolkids 23 years ago. But I'm sorry, using word search on any speech and attempting to draw conclusions based on the frequency of the words is a little nutty.

At the same time, Ed and other peoples' point on this thread stands that the WH could've released the speech beforehand, and the response from the Right would have been muted. I have a sneaking suspicion that the WH saw this as a “judo moment” where Obama, to the delight of his base, baited the Right into nutty, semi-racial attacks before rebuffing them yet again. Anyone agree?

  • dunno_moire

That is an interesting focus – “…what they can do to help the president”. Maybe it would have been wiser to reiterate Kennedy's “ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country”.
We're letting all the rest of adult culture trickle down to the youth, why don't we try letting responsibility trickle down too. Might that be good indoctrination?

  • CStanley

    LOL, that cartoon is priceless!

  • D. E.Rodriguez

“As one of the preparatory materials for teachers provided by the Department of Education, students had been asked to, “Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. “”

Now, there is the Marxist, socialistic, fascist, communist indoctrinatory, mind-changing stuff we have all been looking for: For kids to write a note to themselves on how they can help the President of their country.

    Wow, now that's radical!.

  • D. E.Rodriguez

“In an acknowledgment that the Department of Education provided lesson plans written somewhat inartfully, surrounding the President Obama’s speech to students next Tuesday, the White House today announced that it had rewritten one of the sections in question.”

There you have it: “somewhat inartfully” = radical = Marxist = Socialist = Communist = whatever other sleaze you want to fill in…:

  • Father_Time

    Good Grief.

I cannot believe the partisan politics over a speech that has not even been given yet.

A school kids address is suddenly a communist plot.

Conservatives are turning people into political zombies.

  • D. E.Rodriguez

    FT:

  • DLS

“Why should he have to provide the text?”

It's because of his never-ending “campaign” and personality cult and a pattern this year of increasing federal intrusion, and ever-worse leftist fringe politics, for starters. Add to that the original “lesson plan” scandal, and even the phrase that involved scummy extremist politics by Obama himself earlier this year — “teachable moment,” reeking of totalitarianism as well as extremism, in fact. As I have also written today, this reminds me of the deliberate extremist political infiltration of education (about which teachers' unions have already had a sordid history), in the case of USSR Fellow Traveler nuclear “freeze” or “war and peace” “education” activism. (I wrote specifically about the 1982 copy of the manual for educators that I own and was reading, during such a timely occasion, this weekend, by Educators for Social Responsibility.) There's no reason that a generalist Obama-worship and damage control effort for a partial health care takeover now can't be followed up later by application of the kinds of methods “ESR” listed for activist educators in the “freeze” era then, to apply to “global warming” or to health care later this year or in subsequent, more active years. (Accompanied, no doubt, by medical school education on “climate change,” etc., and global warming as well as gun violence as “public health” issues.) Thoughtful, informed people think of this and more when seeing Obama's increasingly extremist and alien political record this year and the “campaigns” (like leftist “revolutions” that are perpetual) and personality cult phenomena that rival those of, say, Castro.

As I've written, don't be surprised if the Education and related people don't collaborate with the likes of Educators for Social Responsibility, and later rely on “reliable” outside sources of information in the schools such as Physicians for a National Health Program for health care, or Greenpeace on climate, etc.

  • DLS

“As one of the preparatory materials for teachers provided by the Department of Education, students had been asked to, 'Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. '”

Had they gotten away with this garbage, and they been in worse shape later this year than they are now with health care, you would have seen “Action Activities” from the 1982 manual I've written about — have the school kids write letters to the editor of newspapers (and on-line), wear “health care now” buttons or “save the planet” buttons, hold marches for health care or for the planet, etc.

  • D. E.Rodriguez

    DLS:

“personality cult…increasing federal intrusion…ever-worse leftist fringe politics…scummy extremist politics by Obama…reeking of totalitarianism as well as extremism…deliberate extremist political infiltration of education…USSR Fellow Traveler nuclear “freeze” or “war and peace” “education” activism…generalist Obama-worship…Obama's increasingly extremist and alien political record…like leftist “revolutions” that are perpetual…personality cult phenomena that rival those of, say, Castro…”

And that's just from one relatively short comment—not your typical ones…

I agree with you one hundred percent, DLS. That's exactly what I said in my post

Thanks for another informative and informed contribution to this debate

  • DLS

I'm not going to lose sleep over those who cannot read, or can't understand what is clearly written.

  • D. E.Rodriguez

“I'm not going to lose sleep over those who cannot read, or can't understand what is clearly written”

Ahh, I see now, the problem is that I can not read nor understanbd what is clearly written.

Thanks for the heads-up, DLS. I'll see if I can take some remedial reading classes. I guess there is not much I can do about my understanding, unless I abandon those fringe, cultist-infested, reeking of totaliatarism, scummy, leftists…

I am sure I am the only one that has this problem, so sleep well.

DLS- I guess you are saying that the prez is a lefty totalitarian Marxist Commie but is personally popular?

Sorry, but this is bizarre even for you, lol. I'm wondering who's really been indoctrinated here!
