I'll spend as much time watching this as I do when O.J. Simpson finally dies.

I saw and heard some stuff this morning on Clearly Not Neutral. CNN is handling this this event into more than what they did with Michael Jackson plus Princess Diana; it's also astute to suspect this is a deferred outlet for liberal resentment at the remarkable public interest in Reagan posthumously.

The details so far that I saw and heard live were impressive, and there were no protests or disruptions, and I doubt there are many who would line the funeral route earlier or later (as Kennedy is laid to rest in Arlington) with protest signs or deliberately vicious signs.

He's the last dinosaur of a dinosaur era. (Liberalism survives the 1960s, of course, but the era of youthful almost-limitlessness is gone and obsolescent. Even Kennedy accomodated this reality.)

More so than liberalism or the Sixties in general, what has ended is the era of the Kennedy mystique. (Actually, it had subsided by the 1990s but was resurrected by nostalgic liberals now.)

Leonidas, I did take the time to observe the first part of the funeral events today. The CNN attitude makes this event lurid, but the funeral itself is pretty good. It wasn't as excessive as the reputation that Wellstone's funeral acquired, notoriously. One thing -- I suspected it would involve entertainment and when I saw and heard the chamber music being played, I thought: "Is Yo-Yo Ma there? [rolling eyes at the excess] No, he's not in the group." However, several minutes later, CNN said that (yes) Yo-Yo Ma would be one of the performers later in the day. Not O.J. Simpson, but a Dem Jacko here.

I said O.J. Simpson because Kennedy as another celebrity who didn't face full justice due to his status.
