Palin Popularity Plummets While Packing

PalinPacking.jpgIn entry number 752 of my ongoing, 4,000 part series of baseless and despicable attacks on Sarah Palin and her family, we find the soon to be ex-governor’s popularity heading for non viability as she packs her bags to evacuate the Alaska executive mansion. A new Washington Post – ABC poll seems to indicate a definite pattern in changing views towards Mrs. Palin, and they’re all heading in one direction.

As Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin prepares for the next stage of her political career, a majority of Americans hold an unfavorable view of her, and there is broad public doubt about her leadership skills and understanding of complex issues, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Overall favorable view: 53 negative 40 positive
Independents: 51 unfavorable 40 favorable
Understands complex issues: 57 no 37 yes
Shares your values: 47 no 48 yes
Strong leader: 54 no 40 yes

Who is showing up as being viewed in a positive light among national Republican leaders right now? Hold on to your hats, but it’s Mike Huckabee.

There’s a vocal percentage of the Republican base who would think it was a brilliant strategy if Sarah Palin set her own hair on fire and ran screaming into the lake next to her home, but for America at large these numbers seem predictable. Abandoning her post as Governor is already turning into the poison pill many of us expected, and her numbers are cratering.

But please stick around and keep your hand in the game, Governor. The electoral off season would be boring beyond words without you.

Nice try Jazz, but Rasmussen and even PPP has shown consistent improvements with Republican, moderates, etc.
  • GeorgeSorwell
She's well-known and has a rabid fan-base, even if there are also plenty of people with a low opinion of her.

Not having a real job might be good for her. Or it might not. The notion that Palin is out of the game because of one poll is wishful thinking.

Sarah Palin suffers from delusions of adequacy.
  • Nice try? From PollingReport.com the question is "Do you think Sarah Palin would have the ability to be an effective president?"
    Republicans: 33 yes/51 no
    Democrats: 6 yes/86 no
    Independents 33 yes/ 55 no

This is interesting, but not too important right now. There is a lot of time and money between now and 2012. My guess is the Palin is going to spend the next 3 years studying up and raising money for her campaign run.

She might end up with more money than Obama

Actually, a question should be asked if Palin has the right character to become President. Because of her decisions, their state legislature has to meet outside their own Capitol costing hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"Senate President Gary Stevens, R-Kodiak, said the one-day session will be held Aug. 10 in Anchorage instead of the state Capitol in Juneau."

nice try, narciso, but rasmussen leans so far to the right they make trotsky look like he's standing up straight w/an axe in his head.

GeorgeSorwell: "Not having a real job might be good for her."

I couldn't help but think of acting.... Who knows whether that's a real job or not and Palin has been acting at a lot of things. So perhaps she can continue her acting career in some other manner. :)

But perhaps the best actors are politicians. Many certainly lead lives which are also found in the soaps.

How about: "The Sarah Palin Show: Truth or Fiction?"

Ms. Palin, poor dear. I think being the VP pick on the McCain ticket may have been the worst thing to ever happen to her. Or maybe all these ethics issues would have come up anyway, just not on a national stage. I guess she made her bed, but I still feel a little bad for her.

    This week... Pasta and Mooseballs!

(Before you yell, I meant meatballs made of moose meat, not oversized rocky mountain oysters.)

It's as silly to predict her future now as it would be to assume Obama will be re-elected already. (Yes, we have encountered such silliness already.)

Note that vicious attacks on her are noticed by the many of us who aren't big fans of her, and expose the nature of those conducting those attacks, which becomes the real issue rather than Palin.

Meanwhile, what about all those arrests related to something _truly_ bad in New Jersey? Are they GOP?

"I couldn't help but think of acting."

Al Franken has demonstrated that acting is possible in Washington (as his appearance at the Sotomayor Senate hearings has shown to all). Dems vote for such people; why not have Palin go to the Senate, too?
  • roro80
Whoa, DLS. *Dems* vote for such people? The biggest actor pols I can think of are all Reps. Ronald, Arnold, etc. Besides Al Franken (who is only a few weeks into the job), are there other major actors in politics on the left?
  • DaMav
Rasmussen, despised by the left but the most accurate poll in predictive value in 2008 has Palin running six points behind Obama. That was before the recent Obama debacle. If Obama keeps doing what he has thus far, she will be 30 points ahead by 2012 :-) Ah, the heads that will pop like little kernels of popcorn.

Repeat "It's over for Palin" three times and click your heels. Now, pretend your wishes turned true. lol

Scott Rasmussen and his right-wing poll are an exclusive favorite of Fox News/GOP TV for good reason.

As Skippy said, "rasmussen leans so far to the right they make trotsky look like he's standing up straight w/an axe in his head."

    Jazz, "Cooking With Da' Guv"?

LOL! Yes, that would be fun and Palin can create a saucy dish. :)
