ABC has recently started showing the new animated series The Goode Family, brought to you by the same people who brought you King Of The Hill. Personally I find it quite entertaining, it’s basically the same thing as King Of The Hill but instead of poking fun at the right it takes jabs at the left.
What I find interesting in surfing the net is the reaction on the left. People who found King of The Hill funny suddenly find The Goode Family offensive. They attack it for being full of stereotypes and making fun of a group of people.
What confused me for a moment was how they could like KOTH and yet not like Goode Family for being a stereotype. King of The Hill was quite funny but certainly full of stereotyping.
Then it came to me. For some on the left King Of The Hill is not stereotyping but reality. For them anyone who is conservative is a dumb redneck who lives in (ugh) Texas.
For those people, I suggest lightening up.
For the rest of us, I suggest taking a look at the show, which is quite funny.
Their are people on both sides without any humor. Both liberals and conservatives find South Park hilarious and offensive. Both sides want to call some episodes as their own.
I've never seen Goode Family. I liked King of the Hill because it reminded me of my family. It really had nothing to do with politics.
But I'd like to see some demographic samples to see who actually watched King of the Hill. Mostly because I don't know any of my liberal friends who watch it. But it's a good theory to work on.
This liberal likes watching King of the Hill. But I find it more of a poke at rural Texas, but not many liberals in rural Texas. Shows like All in the Family poked fun at both sides, both Meathead and Archie.
