In internet time this is old news. But the irony that earlier on the very day that the NY Assembly voted a bill to legalize gay marriage still more photos of Carrie Prejean were revealed makes it too hard to resist.
That last batch — taken when “Carrie was the ripe ol’ LEGAL age of 20” — came after she was the featured event in a press conference held by The Donald in the city of Sodom. There he announced his ruling, Miss California can keep her crown:
Once again, our weary and deeply conflicted nation turned to Donald Trump for moral guidance on Tuesday, and once again, the wise old sage reached deep into his soul and delivered this proclamation: She’s blonde, she’s hot, she stays.
In a question-and-answer period, Mr. Trump declined to state his own view on same-sex marriage. “This isn’t about me,” he said, to some laughter among the news media.
“Come on, Donald, say it,” Ms. Prejean prodded, but to no avail. He said that gay marriage is a big, complicated issue, and that he understands both sides.
Oh, that Donald. Sooo diplomatic.
What we’re left with is gay and lesbian activists people continuing to pursue their revolutionary quest for inclusion in the military, in places of worship and for legally sanctioned committed relationships, while the protect marriage movement finds itself rallying behind a woman who lied, again, about posing for nudie photos. (Prejean has claimed that some of the images are Photoshopped.)
OTHER PRICELESS REACTION: David Shuster on MSNBC, Can I Vomit Right Now?; Dan Savage, Clown keeps crown; Perez Hilton, The timing on this couldn’t be more perfect!; Media Matters for America, Cable networks find another reason to air racy photos; Hot Air, “Note to pageant organizers: If you don’t want your spokeswomen swept up in political controversies, don’t ask them questions about divisive political issues. End of story.”
The Miss California USA organization released a public service announcement Sunday featuring a whole host of other pageant winners who disagree with Prejean on marriage… (after the jump)
LATER: On the Today Show she details the “wardrobe malfunction” and names the photographer. The Donald says he reviewed the photos carefully and “they were magnificent photos and…she looked very beautiful.”
Then they scooted over to Good Morning America. There The Donald said, “I reviewed the pictures. We’re living in the 21st century… I mean I’ve seen bad pictures. These were not bad.”
GMA focused some on the same-as- Obama’s-position quote (ignored on Today). I’m glad to have the Right push Obama and Hillary on marriage. They’ve got to know which way the wind is blowing.
