An Internet hub with domestic and international news, analysis, original reporting, and popular features from the left, center, indies, centrists, moderates, and right
I regularly go over to memeorandum (a political blog aggregator) to get a a feeling for which way the winds are blowing on various issues of the day. The website will link to a major news article/blog with a brief description, then a list of influential blogs that link to that story.
I also have a Fireflox plugin, which will shade those blog links from dark blue to light blue, to light pink to dark pink – depending upon the political leaning of that particular blog. It gives a nice visual representation of who is talking about what topic.
Right now, I find it particularly interesting that every single blog discussing the Republican April Fool's Budget ranges from moderate (no color) to heavily liberal (dark blue) – it's a sea of blue without a hint of pink coloring (conservative) in sight.
The silence from the republican and right-wing blogs about the republican budget alternative introduced today is deafening. Hmmmmm. See it here: (3:40PM snapshot) http://www.memeorandum.com/090401/h1540
Similar to note on the same page: 80% of the blogs discussing the NY-20 race are liberally-colored. Republicans aren't talking much about that news story, either.
So…what *are* they talking about? Where is the sea of red-color on the memeorandum page right now? They're all in a tizzy over Barack Obama giving the Queen of England an ipod. I'm so glad they have their priorities in order.
