House in Vista, California

That this house in Vista, California, in North San Diego County, sold for $100,000 in December 2008 doesn’t seem all that noteworthy. It’s not exactly an architectural gem and it’s just 1600 square feet. The 1989 price of $165,000 makes sense as a reasonable price for this property as well.

More shocking is that it sold for $520,000 in August 2005. Did it occur to anybody in 2005 that a little home like this can’t possibly be “worth” more than half a million dollars?

I’m no expert on San Diego County, but I know enough about the area to say that Vista is not oceanfront; the geographic premium couldn’t have been THAT high for this house.

When we write the histories of this economic meltdown, we will point to simple pieces of data like this one.

IF the far left liberals get their way the enitre United States will be one big California.

Just remember that when you are jumping up and down over the recalcitrance of the GOP and the budget and stimulus fight.

The LEFT……..LIBERALS………DO NOT……let me repeat………DO NOT have all the answers.

There are many things that I value in the lefts agenda and claim for myself as a conservative………..GREEN. National health care, Better Education, Conservation. But the GOP and the DEMOCRATS do not have all the answers. No matter what they might like you to believe.

Not sure where you're going with that comment, greenschemes. Th point here is that much of the “wealth” we had in recent years was bubblicious and not real. I don't think anybody has all the answers at this point.

    Elrod.

California is one big not only liberal but far left liberal state. The current administration is leaning WAAAAAAYYYY left with their economic policies.

If you want to extrapolate what America will look like under far left policies………just look at California today. Its really quite simple. Most of us who are in economics marvel at how California is still in business given their totally irresponsible handling of their economic affairs.

No better way to spend an hour or two myself making fun of California, but GreenSchemes comments also must be put in the context of how powerful California is. It's one of the huge technological and agricultural engines of the entire nation. The Bay Area alone has generated hundreds of billions of dollars in sellable technologies and industries. I'd much rather live in a place like Tennessee myself than much of California, but the California economy, and its long term successes, dwarfs my lovely TN.
