Did You Know That The Republicans Left The Economy “Robust And Strong?”

The National Republican Congressional Committee says so on its website:

Thanks to Republican economic policies, the U.S. economy is robust and job creation is strong.

Oh.

Republican tax cuts are creating jobs and continuing to strengthen the economy, yet there is still more to do so that every American who wants a job can find one. Congressional Republicans understand that many Americans are working hard to make ends meet. That is why the GOP continues to push for pro-growth policies that create jobs and oppose tax increases that would add a burden to working families and set back our economy.

This was noticed by The Politico which got this response from the NRCC:

The site is currently under construction. We are looking forward to relaunching the site and fostering a discussion on just how Nancy Pelosi and her Democratic colleagues’ plan to spend their way out of recession is absurd at best and financially ruinous at worst.

Oh.

P.S. Did you know that thanks to sound judgments and wise use of money, the car industry in Detroit is making bigger profits than ever?

Building infrastructure under FDR only managed to alleviate a depression. The country was still in a huge recession with unemployment still never below 14 percent.

With that in mind why is it that the Democrats believe that building bridges this time around is going to end this recession. I must agree with the GOP on this. This is nothing more then mindless spending and I have even talked to staunch democratic friends who are befuddled at what the congress and Obama is thinking.

Does this not once again simply remind us of the THROW MONEY at the problem without a real plan?

Well, greenschemes…. the next time you're driving on an interstate bridge, please ask yourself how you would feel if that bridge collapsed at that moment, like the I-35 bridge in Minnesota a couple years ago.

People who build bridges have jobs. The Bush “tax rebate” ($500 at most, I think) of last year only stimulated the economy for a short period of time….. Did that prevent us from being in this recession? No. Do we have anything to show for it, safer bridges, better schools? No. Are more people working because of the $500 Bush put in your pocket? No.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that giving people jobs helps the economy. No wonder we're in such a mess if many Americans do not even understand that. And if those jobs create and safe roads for you and me and the trucker who delivers my food to the grocery store so we don't starve, then all the better.

People want tax breaks because they want money in their pocket. Well, money in my pocket is good, but giving people jobs is even better. Not only are they earning money and contributing to the economy, if they have a job that means they are not collecting unemployment checks.

I'm sure in the alternate reality that the Palin Republicans (ex Bushies) live in that the universe is all good… the only problem (as the Palin Republicans see it) is everyone else who says differently. The motto of these Republicans is, “Don't rain on my parade.”

The unemployment in Wyoming is 4.5 percent. There are lots of highways and bridges that can be built in that state. However building a bridge in Wyoming is going to benefit those people living in Rhode Island.

HOW? Anyone who as actually studied the FDR plan can see that the people involved actually moved all over the country. Lived in camps and did whatever was necessary to work. This plan, which is eerily similar to the FDR feel good story is flawed from the outset because its going to demand that Detroit with its 18 percent unemployment have literally its entire highway and bridge system rebuilt by waitress, nannys and autoworkers, while those unemployed in Wyoming or Montana are going to be shortchanged because their votes do not matter and their unemployment rate is not critical to the election process.

Secondly these states, all notoriously GOP will suffer as they are disproportionately affected. They have 10x to 20x more highways and schools then does say Rhode Island, Mass. Maine, Conn, Delaware etc. etc. etc.

Once again I am not nor did I say that building bridges or roads was a bad idea. What I said was this is nothing more then an attempt to feel good about themselves without rational thinking, without a plan and without common sense.

No one is suggesting that we dont build new schools, fix our bridges or repair our highways. However What I am suggesting is that the continual comparison of this plan to FDR;s works project is both apt and flawed at best.

I would simply ask that the Democratic partisanship stand up and demand that those same people be given jobs to create a network of solar panels, wind turbines. Because its in this kind of infrastructure that we create long lasting jobs that are self sustaining. You can only rebuild the bridge in Minnesota once. You can only build so many schools and then a city has enough schools. Wind and Solar at this time in essentially unlimited in the amount of jobs we can create that are both self sustaining without government intervention but will also contribute to the long lasting health of this nation.

A grid of wind and solar will encourage the production of electric cars, the creation of new college education programs to operate and maintain this infrastructure and in addition the field itself will create new high paying jobs. The money should be spent NOW, today in setting up and establishing college programs to maintain and operate and build these programs while we begin building the farms and rebuilding the power grids to be 100 percent more efficient.

Lord…….please……..do not be overcome by Obama's selection as president. Think about it. The long lasting effects of new bridges will be minimal. The long lasting effects of new power grids that are 100 percent improved in efficiency, the introduciton of Wind and Solar fields into those grids will have astounding ripple effects thru our economy. Our energy bills will drop drastically giving us all that amount of money to stimulate the economy for the rest of all time.

Bridges give us nothing but a few jobs for a few years..

My proposal makes the Democrats feel good and it gives us tangible economic benefits both to the nation and to the individual while creating new jobs and new fields of expertise.

Feel good all you want. Just feel good about doing the right thing, not feel good about build a new bridge in the middle of the back roads of Montana.

greenschemes, Obama supports green energy. But we also need to rebuild our infrastructure, which will give us more jobs sooner. Probably every city has infrastructure plans on their shelves which just need funding before they can proceed. Green initiatives require more planning and will produce jobs in the medium-term future.
