The Illinois Supreme Court ruled today that the signature of Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White is not required for the appointment of Roland Burris. In theory this opens the way for him to be seated, though it will probably take a little more political drama.
On a side note, I do wonder if the impeachment saga of Governor Blago may run through the courts too. The impeachment committee and the full House vote today took place in a session that ends on Tuesday the 13th. Arguably no resolution can survive from one session to another (which is why they plan to have the House re-vote on Wednesday) but I am not sure it would be proper for them to vote based on an old report.
So some fun drama will surely result.
