Site Design Change Tonight (Complete and Updates)

Hello readers, supporters, naysayers, and enemies!

The Moderate Voice will be undergoing a design change tonight (10/26/08) from 8:30pm EDT to 11:30pm EDT. This is not a complete overhaul of the site design. It is more of an enhancement that will allow an increased focus on the articles and standardize the look of the site. If you come to the site during this period, you will be greeted with a very polite message telling you to get outta here! That was a joke.

Thank you very much for your continued support and we hope you will like the change tonight… Change that you can believe in. I couldn’t help myself. :-)

This design will be led by the fine folks over at Nicasio Design in Savannah, Georgia.

UPDATE

Work is complete and things are running smooth. What do you think?

UPDATE #2

10/27/08: We are aware there are problems with how the site looks in Internet Explorer 6 only. Those are being addressed.

Been reading any Shakespeare lately? Never mind "I come here to not to praise Ceasar..." but to praise TMV! And, as you've got that 'voting thing' out of the way it ought to be easier for you to keep up the good work. :-)
  • again??? Wow....

Immediately noticeable (pleasant even) design changes - and though it's entirely possible it's my imagination, the site seems to load with significantly less waiting for disqus, etc. to catch up (and that has really been a problem lately). First take - a nice painless upgrade (on my end!). Good stuff T!
  • Thanks Mike_P. Yes I addressed that Disqus issue and seemed to have made some good headway on the loading times. Chris Underwood at Nicasio Design did a great job of implementing what we wanted (led by our managing editor Pete Abel). Overall I'm very happy with the look and the way it "moves".

Nice clean look -- good job, T-Steel.

Awesome new background. That blue caused my eyes to go into seizure. :D

Much faster, better use of screen space, takes advantage of the browser display settings, and an overall brighter, cleaner look.

It may not be a complete overhaul, as you characterize it, but the sum of all the smaller changes is a very big, positive impact, IMHO.

    Great job.

p.s. - any chance these changes will stop the disqus quirkiness we have all experienced?

Seems to load up faster & no more of the blue screen of eyebone strain. Nicely done!
  • Wide Glide.... I like it...
