New McCain ad hits the issues in Michigan

John McCain has swung away from the current media circus and hit some of the key notes which should be the focus of voters this year, particularly in Michigan where this ad is running.

Energy independence and relating it to security. This is the bread and butter of the McCain campaign and he needs to be doing more of this.

McCain can *** WIN *** on the issues.

Meanwhile, what was said earlier, that the election has been mainly about personality, was howled about despite its being so right given the Obama phenomenon (rock star, personality-cult figure, Messiah).

(Having an older establishment guy in Biden on the ticket, among other things, helps bring the silliness among the starry-eyed naive down closer to earth.)
  • I actually think McCain can't win. But he'll try by distorting the issues.

Let's look at what our petroleocracy has given us (or is it an oilogarchy?)

Want four more years of oilmen running the White House? Want $5/gallon gas? $10 a gallon?

Lots of voters are angry that BIG OIL and a BIG GOVERNMENT of OIL MEN is screwing them, while enjoying record profits at our expense and getting BIG GOVERNMENT handouts from oil men Cheney/Bush and McCain. BIG OIL has chosen NOT to drill on the 68 MILLION acres of land we've already given them, because <repeat refrain> BIG OIL and a BIG GOVERNMENT of OIL MEN is screwing us, while enjoying record profits at our expense and getting BIG GOVERNMENT handouts at the hands of OIL MEN Cheney/Bush and McCain.

McCain opposed legislation that would keep American oil in America, and Bush threatened to veto it. Count on those facts being exposed repeatedly. So. McCain wants to threaten American coastlines and give away our public lands to give more oil to CHINA and more of OUR MONEY to BIG OIL !

Well, I'm glad that the ad is actually about governing the nation and not personal innuendo or simple slander. Woohoo. However, doesn't this particular ad run up against the well known fact that Obama has said he would support more drilling if it's necessary to get a deal done on a broader energy plan?
