Election 2008: Wyoming

Wyoming remains one of the least-populated states in the nation as well as one of the most Republican. It also features 2 Senate races due to the death of Senator Craig Thomas earlier this year.

President: McCain wins. ‘Nuff said

Senate #1:  Incumbent John Barrasso (R) was appointed to the Senate earlier this year and will probably face attorney Nick Carter (D), who narrowly won his primary (though a challenge is possible from rival Keith Goodenough.

Either way, Barrasso is likely to win in November.

Senate #2:  Incumbent Mike Enzi (R) should have little trouble defeating Chris Rothfuss in November.

House: Had incumbent Barbara Cubin sought re-election, she probably would have gone down to defeat but she chose to retire instead.  Former State Treasurer Cynthia Lummis (R) should defeat 2006 nominee Gary Trauner.

A sign of the GOP strength was seen in the House primaries where Lummis faced several strong opponents but still won more votes than Trauner, who was unopposed.
