Voter Suppression Artist Hired by Civil Rights Commission

The technical term for this is sick $&%@ing joke.

Does anything surprise you about this? This is the setup, the stacking of the deck so to speak.
  • jwest
Thank god they are finally getting someone to crack down on the rampant voter fraud in heavily democratic areas.

This is a good day for America.

You didn't capitalize the g in God, you heathen.
  • jwest
    Atheist, actually.

But when I hear news like this, I'll upgrade to agnostic.

"crack down on the rampant voter fraud in heavily democratic areas"

Disenfranchisement! Oppression, not just suppression! -- predictable lies

Why? Because 6/8 members are on the right? Isn't that a little unbalanced? And the fact that it seems like it's the same carrion feeders making the rounds doesn't upset you? This is the best they can do?
  • AustinRoth
Um, why would 6 of 8 being on the right be 'unbalanced'? I am constantly told here that the fact that the media is even further 'unbalanced' to the Left means nothing, because they are professionals, and their personal political leanings mean nothing.

Why can't you give this group the same benefit of the doubt?
  • kritt11
AR- That comparison is just silly- the media don't enforce the laws of this nation- the Justice Dept does-- and the Justice Dept already has a black eye from a thoroughly politicized performance. This guy was a part of all that- it would be like hiring Alberto Gonzalez!

If this was 2001- though, I would be willing to give the group a chance.
  • AustinRoth
Oh, get real. The press has as much, if not more, influence on what goes on in the US, what is discussed, what politicians pay attention to and vote on, than most if not all government bodies.

So again, only unbalances to the Right are of concern?
  • schraubd
In what world is the media commentariat left-leaning? There's Olberman and now Maddow, and that's pretty much it. Compare that to Beck, Scarborough, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Carlson, Novak (until recently), Hannity (Hell, the entire Fox lineup)....
  • kritt11
I've got to say that I agree. The media used to be a lot more liberal-leaning, but media moguls like Rupert Murdoch fixed that situation. Its an urban myth that still plays well with conservatives.

AR ask yourself-- if the media is so left-leaning why did they roast Bill Clinton and then Al Gore in the late 90's ??? What about the treatment of Hillary Clinton this election cycle?

You want to give a guy a chance that limited voting rights for the poor and minority voters-- in the civil rights division? Another fox-in-the-henhouse choice by Bush & Co.The division has had more than a 50% turnover and has almost exclusively tried reverse discrimination cases and defended religious expression by Christians. What a shock!
